A T-90M equipped with the KAZ “Arena” system on a factory test run near the UralVagonZavod plant. As many have already noted, UralVagonZavod tanks will be delivered to the troops partly equipped with the APS system and partly with the new “mangal” and a suite of measures to enhance protection (plates, MTO). As for the T-80BVM, they will be equipped with the new turret and more sophisticated protection solutions than those on the T-72-90 models.

GeoConfirmed conflictmap UKR. ⚠️Another proof that Russia is using the ZNPP (Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant) for military purposes, which is prohibited by international law (Geneva Conventions).⚠️ They are testing a "Kurier" multi-purpose assault robot from the same building that houses Reactor 3 of the ZNPP. Russia uses the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) as a shield and military base, knowing that Ukraine must exercise extreme caution to avoid a catastrophic nuclear accident. - The law imposes obligations on all parties to armed conflict to refrain from attacking nuclear power plants and to avoid, as much as possible, any action that would expose them to attack, including locating military objectives at or in the vicinity of such facilities. DPSU t.me/DPSUkr/34199 has published a more detailed video of the situation with the T-72B3A. From another drone at the beginning, a hit to the rear is visible.*The next drone attacks the left side of the turret. Then footage of the attack on the tank with the “mangal,” which was moving ahead of the tank with Arena and advanced further, but was also immobilized. After that, footage of finishing off the tank with Arena — 2 drones. At the 57-second mark, not in chronological order, earlier footage of the attack on the tank with Arena while it was still moving, and footage of finishing it off. On the frames of the vehicle on the move, damage to the ERA blocks installed on the side skirts is visible. After that, footage of drops onto the immobilized tank with Arena. — What can be said here? — I can’t say anything yet. On all the frames of the video, operation of the APS is not observed; maybe it remained off-screen. Although considering what we can see in the frame at the beginning — the loaded, unused APS ammunition is clearly visible there. But there is no reaction to the drone.

First combat use of T-72B3A tanks with the Arena-M APS, modernized to counter FPV drones, ended unsuccessfully. Video from CSP “Omega” shows footage of a T-72B3A tank being hit in the rear — the APS failed to activate. 2 tanks (1 with Arena-M APS and one with “Mangal”) were struck near the settlement of Mayak, Donetsk Oblast. T here are still no details on why the APS did not work or how many tanks were equipped with it, but it is clear that the attempt at a massed use of Russian armored vehicles failed. Whose fault it is — KBM (the developers of the system), UVZ (who, as usual, did everything half-assedly and installed a minimal number of countermeasures), or the tank crews themselves — remains unknown for now.

My latest → Research carried out in the past 15 months shows that, since Germany's military aid to Ukraine was once again classified as secret, the German government must have supplied a considerable number of additional firearms to Ukraine. deaidua.org/news/2026/08/0…

“Mykhailo Drapatyi, Ukraine's newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has issued orders to the assault regiments of the Ground Forces to suspend the intake of additional personnel from 26 July… Quote from source 1: ‘We can no longer take people from the reserve battalions or people who have been newly conscripted’… The transfer of military personnel from other units [i.e. transfers into assault regiments – UP] has also been suspended… This is the first decision by Ukraine's senior military command to restrict the assault regiments' ability to replenish their personnel. Previously, at least two assault regiments – the 425th Skelia and the 225th – were known to UP to have had exclusive rights to a continuous flow of personnel and permission to expand.” pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2026/…

As for some changes, I suspect the assault forces will lose their priority status. Throughout the war, the General Staff has taken some responsibilities from the Land Forces (e.g. where recruits are sent from the training centers) and combatant commanders. He might return some of those responsibilities and empower those components. Instead, he may refocus the General Staff on procurement, force development, and force generation, and let the task force and corps commanders lead the fight. 5/

Truly horrific. A Russian missile struck a family home near Zelenskyy's hometown of Kryvyi Rih overnight. "The Russian missile struck with such force that almost nothing was left of the house… Fragments of human bodies were found under the rubble, and only forensic examinations can establish which members of the family they belong to."
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

Today, the Russians used their ballistic missile to destroy an ordinary house belonging to an ordinary family in Radushne, near Kryvyi Rih, in our Dnipro region. It was the Voronov family: mother Olena, father Artem, seven children – Mark, Dominika, Zakharii, Azarii Ilai, Federica, Emilia, and Viorika – and one-and-a-half-year-old grandson Artem, the child of their eldest son, who is now defending Ukraine. As of now, it has been confirmed that parents and three children – Mark, Azarii Ilai, and Emilia – were killed. The Russian missile struck with such force that almost nothing was left of the house… Fragments of human bodies were found under the rubble, and only forensic examinations can establish which members of the family they belong to. The fate of Zakharii, Dominika, Viorika, Federica, and Artem is still being determined… It is a horrific crime of Russia’s war against Ukraine – against ordinary people, against ordinary life. This Russian evil can only be stopped by the whole world. No one in the world can be left to face such terror alone. And when we say that Ukraine needs missiles for Patriots, when we seek the capabilities to defend ourselves against Russian ballistic missiles, this isn’t about abstractions. We are talking about families like this, people like these, who can live if we have the means to shoot down Russian missiles – if our partners help us with interceptors. Families who can be killed if we have nothing to stop Russian Iskanders with. It is important that these people are seen by those who make decisions – decisions at the Pentagon, in European capitals, and everywhere in the world where there is an opportunity to help Ukraine protect lives. Reality speaks for itself. Protecting lives is necessary. Air defense missiles are necessary. Eternal memory to all Ukrainians who were killed by Russian strikes… Eternal gratitude to everyone who helps!

An interesting op-ed from a Ukrainian serviceman: "Let's be honest: ordinary society is currently almost completely unprepared to meet those who are doing everything so that, in the thirteenth year of the war, Ukraine continues to exist and fight. I'm not talking here about the families and loved ones of servicemen, but about the millions of citizens and their families who are evading military service, for whom war is something far away... Analyzing how the civilian world in Ukraine's rear is preparing for mass demobilization and the return of servicemen, another historical experience comes to mind — the U.S. circa the 1970s, right after the end of the Vietnam War. This parallel is the most frightening, because we risk repeating someone else's social catastrophe while having our own, even more complicated starting conditions... But American society back then pushed away not only evaders — it also pushed away its own veterans, because of deep rejection of the war itself. Coming home, soldiers faced aggressive protests, accusations, and complete disregard for their trauma. Our war is existential; in many cases servicemen are respected only in words. It's an abstract, "remote" respect that works flawlessly on social media and collapses instantly on contact with reality. The isolation of Vietnam veterans arose against a backdrop of social hostility. Ours risks growing not out of hostility, but out of institutional incapacity and civilian fear of the hard experience of war. These are different diseases, but the result could prove equally destructive." pravda.com.ua/eng/columns/20…

Allowing Starlink enabled strikes over Russia, or part of it, is one of the few ways available to hunt and displace Russian Iskander-M launchers. Also RM-48U. Presently, Ukraine is just not getting the interceptors it needs to keep up with Russian ballistic missile strikes.
Dmytro Putiata@kriegsforscherD

If Starlink will be allowed to use over Russia — I cannot even imagine the amount of damage that would done to the Russian army and economy. And in that case we won’t need that unrealistic amount of PAC-3. We will be able to destroy the Iskander launchers.

"Iranian officials said they hoped the conflict would end with their retaliatory strike, but Western officials warned that it was difficult to predict how Ukraine would respond." Western backers told Tehran they couldn't be sure how Kyiv would retaliate and Tehran backed down. Perhaps Iran calculated it wasn't in their interest to widen the war, if only "symbolically," against an adversary that nightly blows up oil refineries and export terminals all across Russia and assassinates Russian generals in Moscow with car and scooter bombs. nytimes.com/2026/07/28/us/…
