girlfriend put me in charge of the aux. So I played hey there delilah by plain white t's. Waited for her to get deep into song and right as she hits a passionate high note...immediately switch to Crank That Soulja Boy. She was absolutely blindsided.

@coachchriskerr We use Marrs Bars pretty often. We've never had any issues with the bar on hand supported variations - bilateral or unilateral. The one big thing is that you have to let the bar settle, some people instinctually shrug into it and can make it feel less stable

Does anyone train with a Marrs Bar or know anyone that does? Have a few questions - big one being can you use it in a hand supported split squat? Or does it come off the back with lighter weight?

@nutritionbymike I work w/ the tactical population where the CrossFit name is popular My approach is typically: 1) what do you think about CrossFit 2) what are the pieces you like/dislike 3) does that opinion make your current program less effective in relation to your goals & abilities

@CoachDanDisney I think it’s easier to sell concurrent training as “CrossFit” to get buy in from athletes The brand CrossFit has its own issues as does the sport but that label has power for buy in

CrossFit is not a training method, it is a business model that uses concurrent training methods The way the training is adapted to make a profit is typically what creates problems Concurrent training is awesome when done well but can also be a complete disaster
StrengthCoachNetwork@StrCoachNetwork

This is great stiff @Tyry202 Wanna do a segment together on why CrossFit might be the best thing S&C coaches aren’t doing with their athletes? For some reason S&C coaches steal from Westside, track and field, Olympic lifting, etc…but not CrossFit.

@DelawareTrackXC I think the problem lies with semantics CrossFit the business CrossFit the sport And the umbrella term used to describe methods that CrossFit employs When we are saying we should or shouldn't do "CrossFit" What are we actually saying? The language matters

@CoachDanDisney crossfit is an extreme sport, not something s&c coaches should be doing with athletes

@StrCoachNetwork I understand the point you're making I just think it's important that we highlight things that are uniquely CrossFit vs things that are just good training practice that existed well before CrossFit for the sake of educating the end user on pros & cons

I meant the idea of using EMOM, AMRAP, and lifting as conditioning. In the same way we don't do full Westside but still use ME, DE, and RE. Or we don't have T&F athletes, but our football athletes work on accel and max velo from Altis. Or watching basketball teams do strongman stuff in the summer. Follow my drift?
