There are 5 Core Commitments every player, coach, and staff member must live by if you want to build a championship culture: 1️⃣ Believe — in yourself, your teammates, your coaches, and the plan. Believe or leave. 2️⃣ Commit — commitment isn’t casual. You’re either all in or you’re out. 3️⃣ Prepare — preparation is the separation, especially in the unseen hours. 4️⃣ Execute — excellence isn’t a switch. Keep it on in everything you do. 5️⃣ Compete — not just with opponents, but with yourself. Get 1% better every single day. With all else being equal, the team that does these 5 things best will always have the advantage. 🎥 Catch the full talk here: youtu.be/bbvUgYvbxy4?si…

@TreadAthletics You started out with what’s wrong here… What kind of athlete does 12 weeks of suicides? You dumbing it down. I imagine you’re talking about basketball. Which is going to be much more than 12 weeks of suicides.

We need to collectively stop demonizing specialization once a high school age player has made up his mind about what he wants to do. Playing other sports is great to a certain point, but we need to stop pretending that 12 weeks of running suicides will have any meaningful level of transfer toward his ultimate goal, and one that has a ticking clock.

I took a call with a 16 year old who wants to pitch in college. Low 80s and weak. No recruiting interest. He asked if he should play basketball this fall or train for baseball. “How bad do you want to pitch in college?” “More than anything,” he said. “There’s your answer.”

@thereallsu777 @MrMaxPrice @thereallsu777 Your crazy if you don’t think kids have room for improvement before getting to college. You also don’t go to college if you are bad at all those skills mentioned before.

@Coach_Riddell2 @MrMaxPrice You just said. Still leave room for improvement…well you don’t get to go play college ball by leaving room for improvement on the table, especially low hanging fruit. @MrMaxPrice covers why

When you’re not great at the sport you love, but you want to play it at the next level, this is your best bet at making it happen. I’d say the worse you are, the more important it is to specialize. And the better you are, the less important is to specialize (part of the reason so many professional athletes played multiple sports in high school - they didn’t need to specialize).

@kurt13warner I think a lot of it comes down to placement of that back foot at the end of the drop. If it’s way wider than hip then it’s going to be tough to be loaded. If just outside hip then easier to stop transfer weight while loaded and better balanced.

Ok I asked a question of QB Coaches over the weekend: Front-Foot 1st or Back-Foot 1st? Here’s my teaching on the topic - something I was never taught, but now becomes fundamental in my coaching! Less movement = Good, More movement = Bad IMO! Shoot me your thoughts!
