A step in the right direction, but a “TOD overlay” wouldn’t be worth much if it’s one that excludes: - All Regional Rail - All trolleys (including the 15) - All high frequency busses - the ENTIRE Broad Street line inquirer.com/real-estate/co…

Expanding the TOD radius to 1/4 mile is common sense. But elephant in the room: 17 of 29 El stations are already in MIN zones where unfunded affordability mandates have made private development infeasible.

Mayor Parker sent legislation to City Council today that would beef up Philadelphia's transit-oriented development law, tripling the scope of its effect--while still exempting areas zoned for single family inquirer.com/real-estate/co…

The current TOD overlay has no BSL stops… The Mayor is just expanding the existing law by ⬆️ the radius from 500 ft to 1,320 ft… And leaving it up to the District members to add more stops because of… COUNCILMANIC PREROGATIVE. 🤷‍♂️ Up-zone ALL transit corridors. Fund SEPTA!

Is there any major commenter in Philadelphia who is anti pee & smoking on the subway but pro sidewalks and crosswalk parking? I'm pretty sure the loudest opponents (aka me) of the former also oppose the latter. And yes people do ask for them to immediately get towed.
Zach Harris@PotCzach

in the city of Philadelphia the most common anti social activity people engage in is parking in curb cuts and crosswalks but you never hear people asking for PPA to immediately tow every single car parked in a curb cut. I think they should do that.

This is a lost skill in sports broadcasting. Kenny Albert does not say a single word after the 13-second mark. He says what needs to be said, and then he shuts up. He lets the moment speak for itself. Lots of people in the business could take a lesson from him.

Watched this probably 20 times. What an incredible move. Also a really great call from the broadcast team.

I’ve seen her positive words — If @PhillyMayor is serious about supporting manufacturing, shipbuilding, and the defense industrial base in Philadelphia, I will help her. New York is in a rapidly accelerating crisis of conscience.

Easy Aerial is leaving the Brooklyn Navy Yard. @BklynNavyYard leadership made the right decision last month to not renew their lease. This public asset should not be leasing space to companies producing drones that are being transformed into weapons of war.

I forcefully condemn the antisemitic rally that took place today in Rittenhouse Square. As an American Muslim, I feel compelled to say that Hamas is a terrorist organization and should be condemned — not glorified. Anyone calling for violence in the streets of Philadelphia is not advancing peace. They're setting it back. The small group protesting today may not wield much power in our city, but we have seen time and again the dangers of inciting violence. We saw this in the firebombing of our own Governor's Mansion, the attack on Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue and the mass shooting of a Black church in South Carolina. That is why we must unequivocally condemn antisemitism, racism and hate in all its forms. I know that this band of protesters doesn’t represent our city or our congressional district. As Dr. King reminded us, “Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” During this time of increased violence, we must stand against the rising tide of extremism and do the hard work of building a peace where every person, Jewish and Muslim, Israeli and Palestinian, can live in safety.

Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia: under the banner of "activism," a pro-terror rally displayed a hanging Jewish effigy, an unmistakable act of antisemitic hatred. Recognize the man pictured? DM us.

COMEDY OF ERRORS: On Jan. 12, ICE detained a Minnesota resident who had a rare "T visa" — for victims of severe human trafficking or those who aid law enforcement to thwart it – even though he had legal status. -On Jan. 16, they urged the court to drop his case because he had been released. -On Jan. 20, they said never mind, "she" [sic] was still in custody and had been transfered to Texas. Then they said 'Here's a declaration explaining it' and forgot to attach the declaration. -On Jan. 22, they missed a court-ordered deadline to explain WTF was going on. Today, a judge ordered his release and reimbursement for costs/fees. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
