@fidsta77 @Mouhssin_Ismail Restorative practice is about being human & building good, strong, open relationships. If you’ve built those, you can have challenging conversations with people & students as they trust & respect you and even the most non-academic and struggling students may then enjoy school.

@Mouhssin_Ismail Disagree with what you’ve said… you clearly don’t understand how restorative practice and trauma informed approaches work…

In the past, I’ve been told to “F**k off” for upholding a school mobile policy I’ve been barged (twice) by the same student for upholding a school uniform policy. I was told by a senior leader I was more consistent in applying the school policy compared to them. Systems and routines are key to successful schools and they have to be followed consistently by ALL. Letting a student off or turning the other way can have a big impact on other staff. Visible leadership is also crucial to support the systems and routines.

@MorrisonBeth I’d refer to LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) as an allegation against a staff member using unnecessary restraint & force. Report to school Safeguarding Governor & Safeguarding Lead, escalate to Local Safeguarding Children Partnership.

A 4 year old non speaking child is on a long waiting list for Autism dx Strapped down in a chair in NURSERY every day with straps and belts. He is covered in bruises! The teacher told his mummy "Well he hates the chair so he is going to get bruises as long as he resists!"

Things a British family member might say if you turned up on the doorstep after being missing for 50 years: - Well you’re here now that’s the main thing - Been anywhere nice? - You’re not wearing a coat - How was the traffic? - Look who’s here - Better late than never I suppose - Have you had your tea? - You didn’t miss much - Suppose you’d better come in - What time do you call this? - Have you got that fiver you owe me? - Where’s your car/where’ve you parked? - I’ve just boiled the kettle - You’re back, are you? - Shut that door, you’ll let all the heat out

@Headteacherchat In my experience it is often indicative of poor communication. What is so obvious to those ‘school literate’ is confused to those who don’t speak fluent ‘school’, & maybe, over the years, you’ve stopped explaining, yet it is new parents every year. I often explain to appease.

Anonymous post: We have a core group of parents who consistently hold irrational and unrealistic expectations of what the school should provide. They constantly criticise every decision and action.

@2tubies Thanks. She’s angry at the so called policy. It had the desired affect though as she sat doing the TTRS when she got in, huffing and puffing & hating having to do it but doesn’t want to loose more break time so it’s working! Shouldn’t be like this though

@Safernetwork We also should be reflecting on whether it’s okay for a child or young person subject to a child protection or child in need plan to be electively home educated?

Improved attendance to 93.7% over this half term from last year’s 92.5%… heading in the right direction but variations across settings. DSLs should be working with Attendance officers to ensure there is a verified understanding around each child. gov.uk/government/sta…

@HalilMrT4Real A walk by the beach with the dogs is our plan today. Without time limits (as dog walks are generally just fitted in during the week) and a picnic.

@Sidney1st @KingBobIIV Having lived for 25 years in a very abusive marriage, I can honestly say that people don’t change. They are able to charm and make others believe that they have changed. This poor girl was saying what she did for fear of further retribution for herself and her family members.

@SandyofSuffolk @KingBobIIV I left my ex aged 47 after 25 years of abuse, coercion and financial controlI. We sold our home making £450k surplus after debts and mortgage were paid. I got next to nothing - it was deemed pensions were financially adequate. But I’ve got a fab life now. That was 11 years ago.

I was 22 with 2 kids, regularly beaten black and blue. I ended up with the kids in a bedsit but worked my socks off to better our lives. Keep on keeping on. You're a strong lady. He won't get the better of you. My ex died 6 years ago due to alcoholism. I'm still here enjoying life. You'll enjoy life again one day.
