Normally don't do a post like this, but wanted to say happy 27th birthday to my (Twitterless) wife, Kristin.☺️ WAIT, did I mention we got married?! This was back on Sept 14th...😅 I want to prioritize my marriage, so I'll remain less active on SM. Much love to you all🙏💙

MON 5/18: While the front between cyclones is more quasi-stationary (as opposed to 5/12/04's surging cold front) Monday, the triple point in southwest KS may favor a mesoscale corridor for enhanced sig tornado & hail potential. A violent tornado is certainly on the table. 4/4

Latest CIPS cycle's best match with Sunday is June 13, 2001, which is quite intriguing. This would be the absolute ceiling event in my opinion, but the mid-level trough was much further E than where it's forecast to be positioned tomorrow evening. Seward, NE F4 pictured. 3/4

The upcoming shortwave ejection across the Central CONUS bears plenty of similarities to the May 11-12, 2004 evolution, in my opinion. SUN 5/17: Double cyclone structure with distinct hump in warm front across eastern Dakotas/MN. 1/4 #kswx #newx #iawx #sdwx #mnwx

I'll be flying to Montreal for work Sunday so I expect another memorable event I'll have to sit out 🥲. (from what I've noted in recent CIPS cycles, analogs for Sunday are much more eye-opening than Monday...maybe a post about this later)

@ben_williams_wx I don't mean to sound insufferable (I'm sure I do lol) but it's been like clockwork the past few years. (I'll also be in Europe Jun 21-Jul 6 & Aug 30-Sep 15, so mark those stretches down 😉)

It’s all coming together. Sunday/Monday have potential to be tornado outbreaks… Monday may have the highest potential for a widespread event as the main upper level wave traverses through the Central US… We shall see how the mesoscale details come together

This model analysis sounding is south of Boise City, OK, along the Texas border behind high-based convection. I realize that the HRRR is no longer being updated, but I don't remember seeing a model bug like this before.

Canada has been dominating the CC500L scene this spring. Another deep cyclone will continue occluding over #skstorm today with its attendant sfc low, thermal ridge, & moisture pool arcing into W #mbstorm. Areas NW of Lake Winnipegosis *may* see a brief tornado this afternoon.

Wanted to let everyone know that we are in fact "cold-coring" in SE Ontario, Canada. This nascent cell circled in black is near Madoc & may pose a brief tornado risk over the next 60-90 min as we approach peak diurnal heating...though moisture is slim. #onstorm

Beautiful high-based virga showers over Norman! This is a sign of elevated instability rooted in the mid-level jet that could trigger some fast-moving, severe wind-generating storms later in the Panhandles

HREF/SREF/NAM retirement: I have seen some people provide some clarity on aspects of this, but since this is something at the SPC we have been working with for awhile, I wanted to address all aspects of this in one spot. 🧵

There is a big yellow building next to my staging area. I should probably check the lapse rates inside.
