People like this are actual NPCs. I've seen people say this exact thing for Star Wars, Fallout, the MCU, Pokemon and other big franchises. That if you have any criticism for poor quality products, you're just "miserable" and that you shoud "appreciate" that you're getting anything at all. Halo: Campaign Evolved short and broad review for those who do not want to read a novel: + I loved it as a new Halo experience and as a template for Halo moving forward - I was pretty disappointed in it as a remake, it just feels like a different game More Halo makes me happy.

Whoever was doing the audio for the Halo Remake fucking HATES Jen Taylor. It's genuinely the only explanation. She's extremely talented but every single line she has in this game is so clearly outshined by her original performance. It's actually fucked.

@lastchalice Listen. I only care about this. Can halo studios make a decent halo, if they can do that, then I believe in the idea that improvement can exist. A lot of the reason halo fails is because of so much negative noise the studio tries to cater to everyone (HINFINITE).

Halo: Campaign Evolved review: AS A REMAKE: Campaign Evolved falls very short of updating the 2001 experience and instilling the same feelings that game evoked. The enemy AI is noticeably worse here than it was 25 years ago. Gone are the Covenant speaking in their own language. The meticulously arranged enemy encounters now feel far less inspired and more like a group of enemies thrown together for the sake of a challenge. While I am impressed by the updated visuals and acknowledge that it is unapologetically Halo, it does little to mimic the beautiful simplicity and awe inspiring grandeur the original games art style seemed to do so effortlessly. The cutscenes are also no longer in engine, which I prefer, but even if I didn’t the transition from gameplay into them is quite jarring. The audio design is sublime and the music is as wonderful as ever, though it’s been pushed into the background at the standard settings more than I’d like, but that can be adjusted on the fly. Several major characters have new voice recordings while others have new voice actors entirely. I’m someone who can accept these changes with the understanding 25 years have passed in mind, but whether that is acceptable or not is for you to decide. I thought the voice cast was great across the board. Some odd decisions were made with the placement of the HUD and the new driving controls, but those can be reverted back to normal in the settings. The level design has been altered in several missions, which I think were done well, but it does at times result in areas from the original being excised. When you combine aim down sights, sprint, the fundamental changes to enemy behavior, added weapons, vehicles and encounters as well as level design, art style and the overall feel of Combat Evolved due to this game using a version of the Reach engine put through Unreal it quickly feels like a different game entirely. I fear many who haven’t played Campaign Evolved will write it off as a new coat of paint, but honestly it’s mostly a new game. It fails to take the place of the original like 2023’s Dead Space or the recently released Star Fox and is at best a companion piece to the 2001 classic. If your only interest in this game was reliving memories of Combat Evolved, you’d be far better served playing the original.

This is such a pointless endeavor Campaign Evolved is a Campaign-only game in early access on 3 different platforms AND available on Game pass, steamcharts figures are almost entirely redundant for it besides *very* loose retention data

Finished my complete playthrough of Halo Campaign Evolved on stream. Pros: Extra weapons, vehicles, enemies. Game is pretty. Music is still there. Movement feels legit. Library change was great. Best level. Cons: Game runs like ass likely cause UE5. Dialog is whack. VA is pretty bad. Everything is too shiny. Doesn't really need to exist. MCC exist already. 6/10. 6.5/10 after optimization

By the way, with sprinting, you can finish Halo Campaign Evolved in three hours. Cutscenes included. Anyway, play the original through the Master Collection, it's cheap, on PC and still great to this day.

For Halo, on an estimated $100M budget, these numbers are abysmal. For Dragonsword: Awakening, the estimated $20-30M Korean game that ditched its gacha elements, they're right where it wants to be. And unlike Halo, the curve is going in the right direction.

Campaign Evolved is literally a downgrade from the original game in every way except for lighting and environmental effects. They throw a layer of unreal assets oon halo, keep the gameplay 75% as fun, and lose all the heart. Just give Halo a break. let other studios take it on. it's clearly not working.

The second I saw IGN’s 7/10 for Halo: Campaign Evolved I already knew. Low-effort, modernized, woke garbage. And I was right. They took one of the most iconic campaigns ever and ran it through the same filter that’s been ruining everything else lately. No real respect for what made Halo special. Just the usual safe, watered-down update. Exactly what I expected.
