@SlipspaceE I think it helps sell his love and sentimentality for her earlier vs during Keyes where it could feel more regretful for being gone or so. It also helps serve as a literal chekovs gun for it being what saves him later on and potentially into any remade sequels.

I like tying Keyes to Miranda, but this feels a bit forced. I’d rather he just gives Chief the pistol. Cause after the Flood gets him, he whispers “Miranda.” Chief giving her the pistol in Halo 2 without being told I feel would hit way harder

Objectively yes. There's very few genuinely terrible games anymore. But is that the upper limit? Campaign Evolved isn't as bad as MindsEye or The Day Before? *Combat* Evolved was revolutionized console shooters. Campaign Evolved is, another console shooter.

I actually wrote much of the mission dialog for my missions in Halo3 and then led the mission dialog process and did much of the writing for Halo Reach. The credits don't really reflect all responsibilities of the devs.. it's more of a formal designation. That said, if you didn't like the mission dialog in Halo Reach, that's fine. You have a right to voice your opinion and I'm not going to cry about being critiqued.
