As the midterms approach and Republican chances of holding the House and even the Senate wither with each new Trump scandal, Republicans are now taking drastic action to get a plan in place to ram through another extremist right-wing moron should extremist right-wing moron Samuel Alito chooses to retire in the next few months, as he is reportedly considering doing. Senate Majority Leader Thune told the Washington Examiner that he was forming plans to replace Alito. “That’s a contingency, I think, around here you always have to be prepared for. And if that were to happen, yes, we would be prepared to confirm,” Thune said. Sen. Chuck Grassley, the Judiciary chairman, told reporter David Sivak that “he'll recommend to Trump that Mike Lee or Ted Cruz replace Samuel Alito, should he retire.” "I hope he doesn't retire ... but if he does retire, I'm going to suggest that either Lee or Cruz be put on the Supreme Court." This would be a complete and utter disaster for our country. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are two of the dumbest men to ever darken the United States Senate, they’re both deranged right-wing extremists, and would be a rubber-stamp for Trump and any other Republican President, should we ever have one again. Winning the Senate and giving us the power to expand the Supreme Court – or impeach every Republican on it – just got a whole lot more important, and it was *already* a matter of life and death for our democracy.

BREAKING: Donald Trump horrifies Americans by insisting that domestic abuse is no big deal and shouldn't even be considered a crime at all because it hurts his narrative. This is shocking even by MAGA's evil standards... "It's called the safe-zone city. There's no crime, they said crime is down 87%. I said no, no, no, it's more than 87%. Virtually nothing and uh..." Trump claimed about Washington D.C. "Much lesser things... Things that take place in the home they call crime," he continued. "You know they'll do anything they can to find something. If a man has a little fight with the wife they say 'This was a crime. See?' So now I can't claim 100% but uh... We are a safe city." Trump's words can only be interpreted as a deliberate downplaying of domestic violence. If a husband and wife get into a verbal disagreement, that is not a crime and so wouldn't factor into the numbers he's discussing. If however a husband strikes or beats his wife, that is obviously a crime. In Trump's worldview, that is an injustice. This kind of thinking is unsurprising from Trump, given the fact that he is an adjudicated rapist. Beyond the E. Jean Carroll incident, Trump's former wife Ivana also claimed in a 1990 divorce deposition that he assaulted and raped her. According to that deposition, he lost his temper shortly after undergoing a scalp-reduction surgery. He allegedly pushed her to floor, pulled out chunks of her hair, and raped her. According to Trump's logic, that attack would be best described as a "little fight." This man is a monster and the so-called "Christians" who put him in power should be ashamed of themselves. Beyond the abuse element, Trump provided no evidence for his claim that his fascist policies have reduced crime. He makes numbers up out of thin air, confident and correct in his assumption that his gullible followers will believe anything that comes out of his mouth. In reality, his deployment of National Guard troops and takeover of the metropolitan police has proven deeply unpopular with D.C. residents. BREAKING: The Writers Guild calls on New York Attorney General Letitia James to launch an investigation into the allegations that “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" was cancelled because he criticized Paramount Global's "bribe" to Donald Trump. And it gets even better... “Given Paramount’s recent capitulation to President Trump in the CBS News lawsuit, the Writers Guild of America has significant concerns that The Late Show’s cancelation is a bribe, sacrificing free speech to curry favor with the Trump Administration as the company looks for merger approval," The Writers Guild of America East and West wrote in a statement. On Monday, Colbert unleashed a fiery monologue attacking Paramount for paying Trump $16 million to settle a sham lawsuit over a "60 Minutes" interview with Kamala Harris in 2024. The suit was widely seen as a blatant act of presidential extortion on Trump's part, because at the same time Paramount is trying to obtain permission from Trump’s Federal Communications Commission for a merger with Skydance Media. The merger is estimated to be worth $28 billion. "I believe this kind of complicated financial settlement with a sitting government official has a technical name in legal circles: it’s big, fat bribe," said Colbert. On Thursday, CBS announced the surprise his show, claiming that it "purely a financial decision." They added that it was "not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount." Paramount Global is CBS's parent company. The Writers Guild specifically questions in their statement if the cancellation of Colbert's show was an attempt to further ingratiate Paramount with Trump to grease the wheels for the merger deal. “Cancelations are part of the business, but a corporation terminating a show in bad faith due to explicit or implicit political pressure is dangerous and unacceptable in a democratic society,” the guild wrote. “Paramount’s decision comes against a backdrop of relentless attacks on a free press by President Trump, through lawsuits against CBS and ABC, threatened litigation of media organizations with critical coverage, and the unconscionable defunding of PBS and NPR,” it added. Trump himself had previously called for Colbert to be fired and celebrated the cancellation on Truth Social, writing: "I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings." Attorney General James must get to the bottom of this corruption. Trump is abusing the powers of presidency to stomp out his political enemies and if this goes unanswered, our nation's slide into full-blown authoritarianism will only accelerate.
