@St1ka I wonder what someone like this would think about modern retro homebrew, would they fuck with something like Micro Mages or Sam's Journey?

"something I don't see talked about a lot is how the Super Mario World cartoon arranges and samples most, if not, all of the background music and sound effects heard with the original game's right channel in mind"

@cirote_3 seeing the two planes twisting around in full 3D in Radiant Silvergun is a bit uncanny when you're used to mode 7 limitations

@CommodoreKulor Ackchyually, Saturn 3D planes are better than mode 7 because the camera can be rotated in 6DoF, with the SNES the horizon must be always horizontal.

@CommodoreKulor @turboxray @splinedrive What is he right about? If you've programmed in assembly you'll know @turboxray is right that it does not *require* knowledge of how the CPU is implemented (in terms of gates, instruction decoding, functional units etc). To 1980s game programmers it was just another language.

@motaz_shokry Just to nitpick, assembly has nothing to do with how processor works on an electrical level. Assembly language is the software side of things. You don't need to know anything about the cpu on an internal hardware level, to learn/use/master assembly.

Are you really that dense that you don't understand the comment? The context: "A simulation for the "Z80" processor, USEFUL for learning assembly" <- No, it's not. Learning assembly is more than just knowing some opcodes/instructions, which you 100% do without knowing anything about the how the processor works on an electrical level. Learning Assembly language, which means how to write programs in Assembly, is a software discipline. Do you know how many people have learned, and mastered, Assembly programming without ever knowing how the processor works under the hood? Can you guess??? Probably not. But you can definitely quote with "lmao".

mock-NES edition (shiru didn't like this song so it didn't end up in the NES game...I can see where he was coming from in retrospect)

for this game we were also gonna have an NES OST mode in the options, so I did some authentic remakes of the original tunes PCE does pretty well at emulating the 2A03!

once upon a time I was scoring a PC Engine port of Alter Ego which unfortunately seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, it was a neat opportunity to revisit doing some new takes on enhanced versions of the tunes...stick around for 0:49!

you can make a multiphonic wavetable that sounds like 3 notes, and then you can stack them on 2 channels for some thick sounding chords
