I wanted to be a Liberal but it’s not working out to well. I went to the bank and asked to borrow money for my Wealth fund and they told me to gth. I told my family that I am instituting a Carbon tax on all future communications with them. I haven’t heard from them in weeks. I told all of my family in Alberta that they owe me money. They told me to gth. I was born in Canada and thought I was Indigenous thinking I would not have to pay taxes. The Indigenous tribes have never had a country here and were never on a trajectory toward forming one either. Canada is their only experience living within a country. Attempts to later give them a country taken from British-French Canada over a hundred years later, which their ancestors had no means or concept of creating for themselves, is a historical and practical absurdity that ignores how modern sovereign states actually form and function. However, the formation of Canada through a combination of conquest and trade is not out of alignment with Indigenous practices, as Indigenous tribes regularly conquered one another for territory and also engaged in trade with other tribes in pursuit of their own goals and visions. Indigenous tribes have historically never believed in the legitimacy of first presence over conquest.

For 7 years, unelected hereditary chiefs have been telling licensed British Columbians their provincial fishing permits mean nothing across a huge area in Northwest BC. People who follow the rules, bought their licences, and just want to fish are being shut out based on claims hereditary chiefs “own” the land. The thing is, it’s public land. And public land belongs to ALL British Columbians. The NDP’s minister claims provincial authority over these waters is intact. But they won’t back it up. In a democracy, elected governments should set the rules. And elected governments should enforce the rules. I’ve been saying this since before it was popular, and I’ll demand it as Conservative leader. Voting is open NOW. Vote for a leader who’ll stand firm for public access to public land, and who will fight for your democratic rights.
