Seymour has clashed with the Speaker multiple times, and critics argue Brownlee has shown bias in how he enforces parliamentary rules.

According to the Ministry of Health's April 2026 report on funding to Māori health providers, the figure for the 2024/25 financial year (the last completed one) was $1,093.4 million. That's 4.2% of total Vote Health.
This covers services delivered by Māori providers across mental health, primary care, public health and more. The National government has disestablished the Māori Health Authority and is shifting regulators toward clinical needs and patient outcomes over ethnicity-based priorities.

Because of Crown Law's 2006 decision to interpret sex in NZ's HRA as including gender identity (at a time that the issues women now confront were unforeseen), yesterday on behalf of @SWS_australasia I applied for intervenor status in the Auckland Pride Incorporated v Minister for Sport and Recreation. I felt I had no choice but to do so because Crown Law, on behalf of Sports Minister @MarkMitchellMP, and @SportNZ, have adopted the 20 year old interpretation that has yet to be tested in court.
Organisations such as the National Council of Women also recognise trans identifying males as women, as does the Ministry for Women.
It is beyond frustrating that women around the western world are having to spend precious resources to fight an ideology that undermines our hard fought sex based rights. And it's well past time that our political leaders ended this utter madness.
People should be able to dress and express themselves how they wish without abuse and discrimination within their birth sex based spaces and places. We can be inclusive of everyone in society without obliterating women and girls sex based rights.

🚩Dominos store banned from hiring migrant workers for a year.
“GBN Trading LTD, trading as Domino’s Pukekohe and Domino’s Pōkeno, were issued the ban. They have also been ordered to pay thousands of dollars after being caught employing a worker at a different branch than allowed by their work visa.
In the last 2 years more than 300 infringement notices have been issued to non-compliant businesses, resulting in a total of $1,000,000 in financial penalties.

The University of Auckland has yet to respond to requests from sitting MP @Parmjeet_Parmar for information about its remaining compulsory Treaty papers, despite the legal obligations imposed under the Official Information Act.

New Zealand First will be proposing a buy-back of the Bank of New Zealand from National Australia Bank.
It will be merged with Kiwibank to form the “National Bank of New Zealand (NBNZ)” – a fully Crown owned, commercially run, systemically significant domestic bank with the scale to genuinely compete with ANZ, ASB and Westpac. After all, when National sold BNZ to NAB in November 1992, it then had six of every ten New Zealand banking customers.
This is a buy-back to put a New Zealand owned competitor on the field at the scale required to change the behaviour of the foreign-owned banks.

They are flags of cowardice. They signify the surrender of an entire political class to fear of struggle session denunciation if they deviate from what claims to be the only permissible ideology. They fear being isolated and shunned if they risk something as simple as demanding that flags at the leadership centre of our nation should assert only unapologetic pride in our nation, and respect for similar sentiments in official visitors, by flying their flags too.
What kind of people are we to instead pretend enormous and focused collective pride in what a few of us do with their genitals.
I recognise leadership cowardice in the face of a cancellation culture. I was in China in 1976 when leaders at all levels of an awesome population were abasing themselves and competing to commit terrible crimes against the innocent, for fear of being denounced as “a stirrer of the right wing deviationist wind to reverse previous correct verdicts of the people”.
That fear empowered the ‘gang of four’. It took the courage of Deng Xiaopeng to show the people that the Gang of Four were in fact hollow - that they did not embody their nation’s irresistible will.
Our polls seem to show a cry for @winstonpeters to be our Deng.

Look at these flags flying outside NZ Parliament today! These are the five flags for IDAHOBIT Day - International Day Against (supposedly) Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia. IDAHOBIT Day is 17 May, so are these flags going to be flying for 4 or 5 days just to mark ONE day? I'm guessing that Pink Shirt Day probably comes into it as well, because there can never be enough virtue-signalling. What the actual heck does Parliament fly these flags for? I was told that they probably weren't going to be flown again this year. Bear in mind that the Speaker has refused permission to fly the Women's Suffrage flag on 19th Sept each year to commemorate NZ being the first self-governing country in the world where women achieved the right to vote (for the inevitable bitter blokes who hate that women can vote - get a life). Why is the Speaker okay about these done-nothing-special flags flying, whilst refusing one which represents an actual world-first achievement? These TQ+ flags should be nowhere near government buildings. All they represent is an ideology.

Lots of polished language.
Plenty of whakapapa, mana whenua, tikanga and kaitiaki.
But no straight answers.
Did they seek cash? Royalties? Shares? Cultural payments? Governance influence? Land concessions?
Nothing.
This is the problem. Too much happens behind closed doors. Too many unofficial toll gates. Too little sunlight.
And investors look at this stuff and say: see ya.
New Zealand cannot keep tying itself in knots while Australia eats our lunch.
