On this Cyber Monday, it you are buying tools, think about whether the manufacturer’s “customer service” actually does that. I won’t be buying tools from @MilwaukeeTool because of their non-responsiveness to questions from customers.

@MilwaukeeTool has social media folks engaging here, but my experience is that after a wait, they told me that customer service (who have been non-responsive) would be in touch. Of course, that hasn’t happened. They must not have anyone making sure issues actually get solved.

My mom dropped out of high school in St Louis at 16 to help put food on the table with an alcoholic single mom. Moved on her own to California and got a job as an AT&T telephone operator. (RBI: her first manager was Rep. Maxine Waters). Got her GED at 23. She often worked nights because it paid a little more. My parents took shifts. She was pro-union and stood up. My dad owned a gas station and got a degree at night. Moms pension still matters for them in their 1,100 sq ft house. Now I get to hang with some of the most amazing people in the world .. including car company execs AND the folks I met on the @UAW picket lines in Detroit. Proud to know both. Many came from the same beginnings. Respect to all working class folks everywhere. That’s where it starts. Ring-wing, left-wing is, frankly, bullshit. Let’s be America-wing.

I recently started buying @MilwaukeeTool electric tools. Unfortunately I have to warn others that their customer support is non-existent! An inquiry will get you “we’ll get back within 48 hours”. Weekly followups will go unanswered. I’ll be returning my latest tool.

@jimcramer I still like them. Diversifying their product line that have already been improving margins; near to medium term drop in molecule costs; regulatory drivers providing a tail wind, and so on.

As unpopular as it is, I think Chris Christie is right: social security should be means based (tho I want that $ someday), and the age should be raised for anyone under the age of 40. They’re gonna live longer anyhow, and I pay a lot of taxes for things I get no benefit from.

@SullyCNBC Much of this due to the tax cuts that were mainly for about 200 very wealthy.

Don't see many mainstream headlines on it but ... National debt just hit $100,000 per person & budget deficit has basically *doubled* in a year. It's now a stunning $2 trillion dollars. Because interest rates are also rising, we could soon be paying one TRILLION per year in just interest on the national debt. That's money not going to schools, the military, health care, and more. When rates rise, the rich also get richer by collecting more interest (some of it tax-free) on the debt they own .. while working and middle class pay more to borrow. The wealth and income gap grows. I get it ... debt & deficits are wonky and obscure topics. But they should be bigger than just news for the financial media these days.

Today is my mom’s 80th birthday. My mom is an immigrant refugee who abruptly restarted her life at age 40. She studied nursing at London (photo 1964). My mom is the strongest and most generous person I know. She is my hero. Please join me and wish my mom a happy birthday.
