$MSFT looks like a secret buyer of Riber < $ALRIB > for Microsoft Quantum. The broader market and algorithms likely don’t know this connection yet. MBEs are important for quantum computing, quantum dot lasers, VCSELs, and silicon photonics. But the long-term implications are sizable if Microsoft Quantum: -> Are starting to buy from this European equipment manufacturer Quantum is still very early and risks to early stage industries are material. But since this company looks like an $AIXA for Quantum and trades at a profitable ~27x est. forward P/E, as a duopoly for MBE with $VECO, it looks interesting. From open LinkedIn intelligence, having a US hyperscaler use Riber MBE equipment to fab frontier quantum chips. At the very least helps validate the company’s importance as a technology. And makes it appear well positioned to capture quantum computing and quantum dot capex cycles in the near future.

Let me explain exactly why every new subdivision in America looks like the top photo, because the math is wild. A mature tree increases a home's value by 7 to 19 percent. On a $400,000 house, that's $28,000 to $76,000. A single shade tree produces the cooling equivalent of ten room-size air conditioners running 20 hours a day. One tree on the west side of a house cuts energy bills by 12 percent within 15 years. The bottom photo is worth more, costs less to live in, and sells faster. This has been documented by the University of Washington, Clemson, Michigan State, and the USDA. The data is not in dispute. Removing those trees saves the builder roughly $5,000 per lot. Concrete trucks need twice the dripline radius of every standing tree. Utility trenches need flat ground. A bulldozer flattens 200 lots in an afternoon. Preserving trees adds weeks and thousands per home. So the developer pockets $5,000 in savings and the buyer eats $50,000 in lost value for the next two decades. The person making the decision and the person paying for it have never been in the same room. The Woodlands, Texas is the proof of what happens when they are. George Mitchell bought 28,000 acres of Houston timberland in 1974 and preserved 28% as permanent green space. He forced McDonald's to build behind the tree canopy. That McDonald's became one of the highest-volume locations in Texas. The first office building, designed to reflect the surrounding forest so you couldn't see it from the street, leased completely. The Woodlands median home price today: $615,000. Katy, a comparable Houston suburb that clear-cut: $375,000. Named #1 community to live in America two years running. Fifty years of data. The trees are worth more than removing them saves. Developers clear-cut anyway because they sell the house once and leave. You live in it for 30 years.

Stay tuned

The Pentagon purchased $2M worth of Alaskan king crab. As well as $6.9M worth of lobster tails with taxpayer funds in September If your first thought like me was: How do I profit off of government overspending on king crab and lobsters? Here’s how: $SYY - They hold massive, multi-million dollar DLA contracts with the US Gov, so when they need to order millions in king crab or lobster delivered, they’re the large beneficiary. $USFD - The second-largest U.S. broadline distributor. USFD also bids on institutional and government contracts, absorbing the overflow of massive government food budgets for expensive crab and lobsters. $PFGC - Another massive distributor that competes for institutional government and supply contracts for crab and lobster. To profit from the Pentagon's taste in seafood and steak, you have to invest in the chokepoints that transport the food. The three above are the largest beneficiaries and the spend in q4 from lobster and crab should show up in their earnings.

$FRSH reported a decent Q4. Punchline is stock is just way too cheap. Company has generic workflow software for customer / IT support. They did 840m in rev last year growing 16% yy and did 227m in Q4 growing 13% yy cc so slowing. Highlights -92k total customers and 8k have bought AI functionality which is at 25m ARR or 3% of total revenue -AI customer cohort has a dollar net retention of 116% in Q4 up from 112% in Q3 . -Took per interaction pricing up from 10c to 50c and no pushback from customers. This will flow through model going forward. -50% of new customer wins taking AI functionality. -Seat reductions not an issue because company is a share gainer and sees seat expansion. Pipeline great at high-end. -Guidance embeds an expectation for a slight ACCELERATION. -Will be GAAP profitable by end of 2026. My take So company has respected mgmt team improving capital allocation, is seeing reasonable traction with AI and accelerating and is profitable. Using fully-diluted shares (including anti-dilutive ones), market cap is 2.2b w/ 0.8b in cash - so 1.4b EV. Company generated 180m of unlevered FCF in 2025 so trading at 7.8x trailing FCF which will grow from here. They guided to 250m in FCF for 2026. So P/FCF here so trading at 9x 2026 FCF, and EV/FCF of ~5.5x. ...for a growing, profitable business that is accelerating on the back of AI product adoption. Like I said, I don't love the company but this is $TLEO level too cheap (see my last post). I listened to the call replay while driving out to go skiing. Pulled over to check financials and stock price, and couldn't help myself from buying some. -11% downside to 8x 2026 street FCF +93% upside to 15x 2027 street FCF ($14 - where stock was 2 mo ago).
