NPF STRENGTHENS POLICE COMPLAINTS RESPONSE UNIT, ENCOURAGES PUBLIC REPORTING OF MISCONDUCT
The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and public trust through the continued strengthening of the Police Complaints Response Unit (CRU) as a direct and accessible channel for citizens to report police misconduct and unprofessional conduct.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, made this known during the Emergency Conference with Commissioners of Police and members of the press held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to the Inspector-General, the Complaints Response Unit remains fully operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing members of the public with a direct platform to report cases of misconduct, abuse of office, extortion, human rights violations, and other unethical behaviour involving police personnel.
The IGP emphasized that accountability remains a core pillar of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, noting that legitimate complaints from citizens will continue to receive prompt attention and necessary action.
He further encouraged Nigerians to make use of the available complaint channels responsibly, stressing that public cooperation is essential to building a more professional, transparent, and people-centered Police institution.
The Nigeria Police Force assures citizens that all reports received through the CRU are treated with seriousness and confidentiality, while appropriate disciplinary measures will continue to be taken against erring personnel found culpable after investigation.
The Force reiterates its determination to strengthen public confidence and institutional integrity through transparency, responsiveness, and respect for the rule of law.

@JudahAdibe @vira9ja @OgunPoliceNG @PoliceNG @PoliceNG_CRU Good evening @JudahAdibe
Thank you for speaking up as you should. Kindly reach out to us via our dm or call 09037152424 anytime any police officer around where you live tries harassing you or any other person. No law of the land permits that.

This is exactly the problem. Many have made similar complaints. These officers have clearly forgotten that their job is to PROTECT citizens, not terrorize them. People can't even sit outside their own homes late noon to get some air, considering NEPA doing what they do best at, and they're being harassed for it? That's not policing. That's harassment and abuse of power.
The directorate/commissioner needs to call these officers to order immediately. And if these individuals are not actually police and are just parading in uniform, then they need to be fished out and made to face the full weight of the law.
Nobody should feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood because of the people who are supposed to keep them safe. This is exactly how public trust in the police breaks down completely. @PoliceNG @OgunPoliceNG do better.
English

HOW DO I CALL THE ATTENTION OF THE @OgunPoliceNG @PoliceNG @PoliceNG_CRU TO THE CONDUCT OF SOME OF THEIR OFFICERS SO THEY CAN BE CAUTIONED TO BEHAVE PROPERLY?
I DO NOT HAVE EVIDENCE, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT DID NOT HAPPEN. THEY APPEAR TO BE SWAT OFFICERS “SWAT” IS WRITTEN ON THEIR UNIFORM. I ONLY HOPE IF A COMPLAINT IS MADE, THE POLICE WILL NOT HAND THE DETAILS BACK TO THE SAME OFFICERS.
THEY WERE BROUGHT TO THIS AREA AROUND LAST YEAR, AND THE WHOLE NEIGHBOURHOOD FELT IT IMMEDIATELY. THEY MOVE AROUND PICKING BOYS ON THE ROAD (NOW THEY ARE CALM), PICKING UP ANYBODY WHO STAYS LATE OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE... EVEN PEOPLE JUST TRYING TO GET BREEZE BECAUSE THERE IS NO LIGHT.
THEY CHASE YOUNG MEN THEY SIMPLY SUSPECT, DRESS CARELESSLY, AND CARRY GUNS EVERYWHERE THEY GO EVEN TO BUY ALCOHOL ON THE STREET.
I SAW THEM AGAIN A FEW DAYS AGO, AND HONESTLY I FELT SCARED. WHAT IF THERE IS ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE?
EVERY ONE OF THEM IS ARMED EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO TROUBLE, NO EMERGENCY, NO ALARM JUST PATROLLING THE STREET AND GOING AFTER PEOPLE OUTSIDE.
THEY REALLY NEED TO BE CAUTIONED. PEOPLE SHOULD NOT FEEL FEAR JUST BECAUSE POLICE ENTER THEIR STREET.
