What we have seen over the last 41 days is that Senate Democrats love illegal aliens more than they love America. They hate President Trump much more than they care for the US Senate as an institution. Schumer has taken a machete to the Article I branch. It may be a fatal blow.

If suicide is “death with dignity” then how exactly is it more dignified to be put down like a dog in some sterile room after filling out paper work than to simply do it yourself completely on your own terms without dragging any accomplices into it and asking permission ahead of time? Again, I absolutely categorically unequivocally reject the idea that any form of suicide is dignified. I am anti-suicide in any iteration whatever. I’m just pointing out that even if you accept the extraordinary premise that suicide can be more dignified than a natural death, it still wouldn’t follow that euthanasia should be legalized. Societies across the world, even back in ancient times, have believed (wrongly) in committing suicide to preserve dignity and honor. But in all of those cases — seppuku in Japan, for example — the thing that supposedly made it honorable and dignified was that you were doing it by your own hand, often in a way that was deliberately MORE painful than a natural death would have been. Ours is the first society in history to suggest that being euthanized clinically in the exact way that stray dogs are put down — and by someone else’s hand, not your own — is the dignified way to go out. It’s totally incoherent. It fails even by its own logic.

All of the arguments for euthanasia fail. Even if I agreed that people have some kind of moral right to kill themselves (which I don’t), euthanasia wouldn’t be needed to exercise that “right.” You can already kill yourself. The idea that people need some kind of state sponsored system just to commit suicide is totally incoherent, even on its own terms. And those term are totally deranged because in truth, again, there is no moral right to suicide. But that’s almost a separate question, or at least a question further downstream. When it comes to euthanasia, the first and most immediate question is not whether people have the right to kill themselves, but whether the STATE and the MEDICAL INDUSTRY have the right to kill people. Should doctors be in the business of deliberately killing human beings? Should we have a bureaucracy for suicide? These are the real questions. And even if you (wrongly) think that humans have a moral right to murder themselves, you should still be able to see why doctors and bureaucrats ought to have no role in it.

This is a point I reached decades ago in the 2000s when I heard what the hospitals make with the acquisition of organs. TL;DR: I don't trust doctors enough to try their hardest to save me if they knew I was an organ donor. Not when they have dollar signs on my organs.

Yesterday, Senate Republicans gave our Democratic colleagues the chance to stand with us, and over 80% of Americans who support voter ID, by passing a clean, straightforward amendment. Democrats blocked it. Every single Democrat should have to explain to the American people why they don’t support this commonsense measure to ensure the integrity and security of our elections.

Democrats defunded DHS because they don’t want to enforce immigration laws any longer. Senator Duckworth and her colleagues punished thousands of Americans because they prefer to keep violent illegal aliens in our country. That was a choice made by Democrats.

Here’s where we stand. The Good: President Trump is paying TSA agents, and the current bill the Senate just sent over to the House re-opens DHS. ICE and Border Patrol will continue arrests and deportations, being primarily funded through the OBBB. Democrats did not succeed in sabotaging border and immigration enforcement in any substantive way. The Bad: the Senate goes on a two week recess without passing the SAVE America Act, stand-alone voter ID, or funding all of DHS through the normal process. Democrats threw a wrench into our efforts to deliver on issues which enjoy broad support among the American people. The Ugly: Congress, especially the Senate, cannot skate by relying on President Trump to solve all our problems. Republicans have to justify their majorities by fighting for permanent policy victories, not can-kicking with unrealistic reconciliation promises. If we do not stand and fight today, we will not inspire Americans in November.

In the dead of night, with only five senators present on the floor and no one there to object, the Senate rushed through a DHS funding bill that deliberately left ICE and CBP unfunded. Now, they are leaving town. No SAVE America Act. ICE and CBP unfunded. Senate Republicans just gave the Democrats everything they wanted and more.
