We had another packed house at the Marin County Board of Supervisors calling on the board to pass an ICE-Free Marin ordinance to protect our immigrant neighbors and keep our community safe. We can’t afford to wait.

BREAKING: Zohran Mamdani is fulfilling his campaign promise to open 5 city-run grocery stores across NYC. @NYCMayor told us the stores will: - Offer staple goods at a reduced price, subsidized by the city. - Contract a private vendor to run the stores who will be required to pay workers union wages. La Marqueta in East Harlem, first opened as a public market by Mayor LaGuardia in 1936, will house one of the stores.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has issued a decree to establish a Universal Health Service, saying the objective is for any citizen to be able to attend any health institution and be guaranteed full and free coverage throughout the national system.

Apple is closing down the first of its US stores to unionize. Apple says that because of the collective bargaining agreement with these workers, they "couldn’t offer to transfer them to nearby locations.” The union is outraged, and exploring options to hold Apple accountable.

Trump has proposed a $1.5 trillion defense budget — a 40% increase, the largest since WWII. In exchange for more war he wants to: -Cut the EPA budget by half -Cut $10.7 billion for housing -Cut $8.5 billion for K-12 programs -Cancel $15 billion for clean energy -Cut $2.5 billion for clean drinking water -Eliminate $1.6 billion for youth job training -Cut $3.5 billion from the Labor Department -Eliminate $395 million for senior employment -Eliminate $775 million in food assistance grants -Eliminate the National Endowment for Democracy -Cut $5 billion from the National Institutes of Health -Eliminate the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) In all, cuts to domestic programs would account for a 10% reduction in discretionary spending.
