Bungie has revealed a “multi-year narrative plan” for Marathon. Creative director Julia Nardin explained that the team has the overall story direction mapped out but will keep it flexible to incorporate player feedback She stated, “We know where we want to take the story over the next few years, but I don’t want to say it’s completely ‘locked in’ because it’s important to us that our players be able to help shape it.” The backstory of what happened to Tau Ceti is “locked,” with more clues to be revealed over time as the story evolves. “It’s also important that players can jump into Marathon at any time. They’ll always be able to uncover the mysteries of Tau Ceti’s past while experiencing its present. We want every season to be a new entry point, and for new players to be able to understand what’s going on regardless of how long we’ve all been running.”

@TylerMovieTakes if they improve the gameplay loop for gold salvage I'll come back for season 2, but until then (or a few new maps) I got everything I wanted out of the game. Unreal how many hours I got out of $40.

I’ve been spending almost every single gaming minute over the last 2 months playing Marathon. After the server test I wasn’t really sold but when the full release came out, and the full experience came with it, I have not been able to put it down or get it off my mind

@Mapocolops where do you get your gold salvage ?

People asking for Perimeter and Dire Marsh to have much better loot don’t seem to get “higher threat level = better loot” If you want loot you go to Pinwheel in Outpost or lose everything factory in Cryo If you want to play Perimeter or Marsh you are doing so with the express knowledge that you’re going to those maps more for specific activities and you enjoy the map, not for exfilling with mass riches outside of a key run. Even then just because you didn’t get something doesn’t mean the map didn’t have it, someone got to it first and exfilled. If you decided to do every single activity and POIs on Perimeter and don’t feel that you got rewards that reflect that effort, you actually did. You’re not supposed to clear out a whole entire map and yeah like you can of course but the game isn’t going to analyse your activity, give you a gold star and tell you that you’re enough. You got Perimeter loot on the Perimeter map. There’s plenty of Marathon players under level 50 hell under 30 even, working through these first two maps for contracts and loot relevant to them while you’re looking at your 400/400 vault space with golds asking Perimeter to give you more. Please be so fr and have proper perspective, the maps are balanced and scaled for their threat level to reward ratio 😭

@kruzer WSTR is not useless imo, useless seems a bit dramatic. I still use the WSTR to mop up damaged/cracked runners. Shotguns should never be a primary weapon imo. The grenade take is shared consensus and thank you for raising awareness on this issue I've only exfilled cryo 5 times tho

The Marathon sandbox in its current state is less enjoyable than it was on Day 1 of Marathon 🥲 Issue 1: Grenades are rampant because the economy changed and access to them have increased. Fix: Limit how many grenades you can carry into a run. Issue 2: WSTR is useless, meaning you are at a disadvantage in CQC if you don't have a Misriah with Slick Mag/Gold Mod. Fix: Revert the WSTR damage nerf and instead nerf the RPM so it's not just an instant death if you run into one + Nerf the Gold Slug mod so it cannot 1 shot purple shields. The community appreciates the quick updates but some of these changes overcooked🤠👍 @MarathonDevTeam @Ziegler_Dev

@TheTrueVanguard There's a full discord server for people to team and match up in solos or trios for 6 man teams apparently. I got blasted by a 2 man team on outpost today. Neither were on coms in game chat.

So I have had several matches now that Outpost solos has been changed where people are queuing together and teaming. Running around, no open mic so they're likely in discord, running in unison, looting in unison, chasing you down in unison. It's so fricken stupid.

@falloutplays standing there face tanking damage with a wstr knowing you'll get a knock by just pump pump is braindead. need to have some movement or initial damage etc. the slug and 3 round will become more OP though... so it also needs a rate of fire nerf

I get that the WSTR is hard, hard meta - but isn't this: a) going to make the 3-shot WSTR double-S Tier b) going to make rook way less fun c) (not relevant to nerf) no mention about the gold attachment that is like ... sniping people ? 😅 Not to sound ungrateful, because the speed y'all have been moving at with making changes has been really refreshing, but has this change been tested a lot behind closed doors, and if so, is it playing well? Or is this moving fast because the WSTR is so insane, and the feeling is to take any kind of action asap?
