As the head of English department, I have totally banned our students and teachers from using AI. No one can use AI for any purpose The policy is called "In Defense of the Humanistic Tradition." It is also the title of my forthcoming Chronicle of Higher Education essay. If I play my cards right, I'd be able to get a book deal out of it with a 6-figure advance. The subtitle of the essay is "Why I Refuse to Surrender the Life of the Mind." It will run next week. A student in my Victorian Literature seminar submitted a paper that triggered the AI detector. I know AI detectors are not reliable. I still gave her an F, just to be sure. I also reported her to the academic integrity office for AI plagiarism. I would push the university to expell her, to make an example of her for others. The dean asked if the policy might disadvantage our English majors on the job market. I told we don't train English majors for "the market." We train them for "the life of the mind." Our placement rate is 5 percent. But that doesn't matter. 95% of our majors are living the life of mind successfully. Many of them work minimum-wage jobs. At MLA next month, I will deliver a talk titled "The Last Humanists." I don't know if our majors will get any jobs. But I do know that I'll be promoted to Vice Dean next year. Who says English majors are not employable?

Absolutely! In Ohio where I live, the fuckers did this at Kent State University. The National Guard gunned down unarmed students for protesting the Vietnam War. This shows exactly what happens when the state decides dissent is dangerous. Control takes priority over rights and speaking out becomes a crime. It is not history repeating itself. @Hexologist31 @LeadingReport Because republicans generally follow the rule of law, which is blind to party affiliation- whereas democrats do not have as much of a respect for the rule of law, and are especially partisan when it comes to enforcement. Thanks for pointing that out!

If a human being has testicles, internal or not, they cannot produce large gametes (eggs) and they are male. Everyone with a DSD is objectively classifiable as male and female. There are no human hermaphrodites.
