Raxol, the agent runtime we built to help run Xochi: Raxol agents transact through @xochi_fi privately. Each one runs as a supervised process with its own wallet, operating under a scoped mandate signed by a human. The agent never broadcasts its strategy to the mempool and never authenticates to a server.

In retrospect, the most important paper in the economics and geopolitics of AI might be Stanford's Alpaca (03/2023). It was the first proof that you could distill OpenAI’s text-davinci-003 into a 7B model for <$600. This was a very surprising result. But it wasn't fully appreciated at the time what this would mean. Now this phenomenon is why Washington and Beijing are putting export controls on AI models, splintering the global market for intelligence. They don't want their adversaries distilling their models. But it's almost impossible to stop, because it doesn't take that many customer accounts (either smuggled or in a third country) to be able to pull enough traces to distill someone else's model. Distillation is like gravity. It pulls every capability advantage down toward everyone else until eventually the landscape is flattened, whether the labs like it or not. It was not obvious distillation would work so well. But it does. Like the gravitational constant, Alpaca proved that we live in a universe with a good distillation constant, and therefore monopolies on intelligence would be temporary. As a result, Intelligence is getting cheaper and cheaper. This is good.

Recently @virtuals_io switched their launch mechanic to having teams launch in stealth. Many reasons for that, but i think it opens the door for launches to be more easily gamed. Personally it'll result in less activity at launch time for me. I don't think it's worth the risk when you can't do your research ahead of time (like we have been able to for 12-18 months). When you factor in that so many teams make odd decisions, or have bad intentions with their launches, the odds aren't in your favour the majority of the time. We'll see many launches bundled. We'll see many buyers dumped on. Of course, we'll see people sneak in early too and that brings about the option for potential gains. There's an upside if you are lucky enough to pick the right launch and get in at the exact right time. For me, it's just not a game I want to play! Certainly interesting to watch on and see how it evolves though.
