@inquisitor111 @browncharley23 @jeff_106 @mrwilldouglas @CrossCountryUK I’ve been on walk on railways in Europe and never had to stand. It’s appalling how our rail system operates - high fares, dodgy leasing for rolling stock…
English

@browncharley23 @jeff_106 @mrwilldouglas @CrossCountryUK No chance of that. The railway operates as a walk on railway and always has. That won't change. It would kill ridership stone dead.
English

So poor from @CrossCountryUK. This Train from Sheffield to Bristol oversold and unsafe. No seats. People packed in standing in aisles, toilets and vestibules in between carriages. It cannot be safe to travel like this. Plus the tannoy is inaudible. Stood from Sheffield to Birmingham in packed carriage by broken toilet. 1 working toilet for 3 carriages. No staff on show. One passenger nearly passed out and had to get off. Train now going in reverse back to Brum having been stationary 15 mins in a tunnel. No one has any idea what’s going on because we can’t hear announcements. This train is unsafe.

‘My ground rent increased by 9,000% after I bought my flat’ #Echobox=1769855865" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

English

@Independent This has been a long road but hoping this announcement is the light at the end of the tunnel!
English

@paullewismoney Highest in our block £2,350 not sure there’s much higher out there 🤣
English

The average ground rent we’re told is just over £300 a year. I’m looking for the highest. I will ask for evidence! DM if you prefer confidential.

NEW: Ground rents paid to freeholders on properties in England & Wales to be capped after Keir Starmer overruled Treasury concerns about impact on institutional investors. The cap will be set at £250 a year for each property, and change to a “peppercorn” sum after 40 years. Legislation will also ban new leasehold flats while existing leaseholders will get right to switch to commonhold to give greater control over properties. Angela Rayner, former deputy prime minister, had urged PM in not to water down plans amid concerns, while dozens of Labour MPs had threatened to rebel.
English

@LNER All good - was there before it left thankfully 🤣
Was great, comfortable, service today thank you! 😌
English

@dspickett My apologies, we are waiting for this to be confirmed.
English

@LNER what platform is the 20:45 from Leeds to London going from? No word from the screen and it’s 10mins to go 😬😬
English

@TLRailUK @whammylance @jjh @MayorofLondon Sorry didn’t meant to tag you Scottie 😌 was replying to the thread! Seems the 17:27 is running so hopefully things moving 🙃
English

@dspickett @whammylance @jjh @MayorofLondon Hi. Thank you for your feedback, if you wish you can submit your feedback via the contact us form online ^Scottie
English

@whammylance @jjh @TLRailUK @MayorofLondon Things break, I get that, but surely we should design systems with redundancy and workarounds? Seems like all that shareholder money would help do that…
English

@jjh @TLRailUK @MayorofLondon It’s not a “shit show of incompetence”
You fail to realise the severity of running a train over defect points.
You also fail to realise that you and your train is not the only one.
You have absolutely no idea of your insignificance in the grand scheme of things xx
English

@dspickett Hi. The team are looking and have been looking at all contingencies. Stations have a capacity, so Kings Cross may be at that capacity already. Thank you for your feedback ^Scottie
English

@TLRailUK right so points failure south of London - divert trains to Kings Cross and then run them out of there? Surely that would solve everything north of London then use Southern services south??
English

@dspickett Hi David, the train in front has been able to move so your service should be on the move shortly too. We do apologise for the delay this has caused to your journey this evening. ^Kirsty
English

@GNRailUK the 18:35 to CBG from HIT isn’t moving because the train in front has issue with windscreen wipers - please update us?
English

@GNRailUK @TLRailUK @greateranglia There was a number of us inside until about 23:00 (since 22:40) when someone came on and said it was cancelled and to go to platform 4 - the chap on p4 was really helpful and got everyone to p8 though!
English

@dspickett @TLRailUK @greateranglia That service was cancelled a while ago, so unsure as to why you were inside that train, however yes the 2310 should be running but with a little delay ^Scottie
English

@GNRailUK @TLRailUK @greateranglia 22:53 from CBG to HIT - was inside for a while without anyone saying anything
English

@dspickett @TLRailUK @greateranglia Yes that our 2310 service, but which train were you stranded on, as did not have any trains at Cambridge for a while ^Scottie
English

@GNRailUK @TLRailUK Thanks 😌 CBG to HIT - the amazing @greateranglia staff just said the platform 8 23:10 calls at HIT
English

@dspickett @TLRailUK Hi there. Can you advise where you are travelling from and to? Thanks ^Scottie
English

@TLRailUK why is the 22:53 to KGX from Cambridge sat in Cambridge without any announcements? It’s really not on that’s there’s no communication
English

@mtpennycook Thanks for this, what about the cap on ground rent? That’s easy peasy to bring in at a sensible level say £250/annum (where things become tricky) and you could do it incredibly swiftly
English

An update on the steps the government intends to take to implement those leasehold reforms already in statute and to progress the wider set of reforms necessary to finally end the feudal leasehold system 👇🏻
