Germany is in panic over Chinese companies taking over its markets at home, abroad and in China. Having spent quite some time in China in the 2010s, I can’t help but thinking back to the arrogance and quite frankly racism of German expat businesses people. Chinese engineers with Ivy League degrees speaking fluent English and German looked down upon by German engineers with a degree from some German university, unimpressive English and less than two sentences of Chinese. The Germans didn’t see it coming because they couldn’t imagine Chinese people becoming better at what they are doing than themselves. An industry insider told me at the time how keen Chinese entrepreneurs were to collaborate with German car companies on EV development. But all the Germans worried about was they are going to steal our IP. Well, here we are.

I stepped away yesterday at 2pm (we close at 4). I came in and they left the irons on all night. Lucky we didn’t have the entire plant catch fire. Oh also 3 jobs I asked to be wrapped so I cld setup freight this morning at 4am were not wrapped. I do this 2-3x a month where I take half a day or a few hours off and the hit rate of them doing something that cld cause the plant to burn down or not completing what I asked is 100 pct so that’s pretty cool. They r nice pple but they dont take ownership as u wld expect. 4pm hits and they run out the door

One thing about business ownership (and management in general) that I often struggle with is balancing putting my head down and getting shit done each day vs. holding people accountable to do their jobs without my involvement
It's a constant tension between stepping in to handle what needs to be done vs. creating systems that hold people accountable while providing me with enough visibility to know that everything is running smoothly
I'm often guilty of jumping in and brute force taking care of shit which is a good quality I suppose but it can hide deeper rooted issues in a system/business
"Trust but verify" is easier said than done for me
Anyone else struggle with this? Any tips?

Denn zusätzlich gibt es zweckgebundene Mittel für Klassenfahrten, Schulbücher, Sportverein oder Nachhilfe. Setze ich die Höchstsätze für Schulbedarf und angemessene Sätze für etwa Klassenfahrten, Fahrtkosten, Ausflüge und Mittagessen an, komme ich auf eine gesamte Leistung des Staates an mich in Höhe von rund 70.000 Euro jährlich. Das ist netto für kaum einen Erwerbstätigen zu erwirtschaften.
Und ich hätte dann den ganzen Tag Zeit für die Kinder. Heute wünschen sie sich das nicht mehr unbedingt, aber als sie kleiner waren, wäre das wirklich schön gewesen. Bei mir entsteht ein Gefühl massiver Ungerechtigkeit bei dem Gedanken, dass ich mit meinen Steuern die Sozialleistungen finanziere, dank denen andere Menschen ohne Existenzsorgen den ganzen Tag mit ihren Kindern verbringen können.
