Was so evident I needed to call the fam to warn them to get in the basement. That was 5:40pm. I didn’t see any ground connection or debris. Just the funnel

@alluringstorms @StormhunterTWN The one shot looking down Gainsborough... I was under that meso all the way to Kilworth, looking right into that viewpoint of the city... and didnt see anything. I was literally on Nairn, which turns into Gainsborough, as the cell entered the city

The problem we’re seeing is that a lot of these tornado pictures are being shared second-hand. A lot of ‘This is what my (insert family member) took’. Based on our experience, it’s a huge red flag and a strong indicator of a picture being fake (the person who shared it may not even be aware)

#ONStorm #ONwx PSA: We’ve seen several suspicious “tornado” photos circulating on social media tonight, including images allegedly from the London and Woodstock areas. At this time, we have been unable to verify the legitimacy of these photos. Some appear very similar to AI-generated images we’ve seen shared during past severe weather events. Based on the size of the population impacted and the number of people in the warned areas, we would also expect to see significantly more photos and videos if these images were legitimate. As AI technology becomes more sophisticated, fake weather images are becoming increasingly common. Because of this, we’ve become much more cautious about sharing tornado photos unless we can fully verify that they are authentic. We are committed to being a reliable and trustworthy source, and part of that responsibility is making sure the information and images we share are accurate. Please be careful when sharing unverified photos or claims you may come across online.

@WxOntario1 @NTP_Reports I didn’t visually see any ground debris myself but it was pretty awesome. There was a bit of an RFD that whipped up where you could see the rain get wrapped in. It lasted maybe 4 mins before it disappeared. My dad also drove through the tornado in belmont. He’s contacting NTP

After some digging around, there seems to be some validity Looks like it occured in the East end of #London Also seeing numerous damage reports from the area Radar at the approx time below, could be the same storm that impacted the #Belmont area #OnWX #ONStorm @NTP_Reports

@WxOntario1 @NTP_Reports Also just to add some timing to this to help with looking back in the radar history, this was around 5:35-5:45pm. I group called our family group chat so they could see. That call began at 5:38pm. I would say the full funnel as in that photo was 5:40 ish, almost to the minute
