#isles Much of the Islanders PP woes would be resolved if Barzal, who has a better shot than anyone gives him credit for, would simply use said shot instead of demanding the puck at the sidewall and holding it. Burning 5ish seconds before deciding to drift to the top of the PP and forcing a LHD (Schaefer) to rotate into his spot along the trigger where Schaefer is not a shooting threat. Then he holds the puck there. Then he passes it off, they reset, and he demands the puck again and we repeat.

#isles My take, which will be unpopular, is that the Islanders need to grit this out as intensely as they can and Darche should not panic acquire anybody. You hope JGP comes back and is alright, you hope Shabanov, Holmstrom, and Lee can start scoring to help carry the load. You hope the defenders they pull up to try and plug the hole Romanov left can take that job and run with it. But you accept that maybe this year was always an evaluation year and safeguard the longterm outlook of the franchise. No, you don't tank. No, you don't doomsday. But you don't overpay to improve in the shortterm, either.

Not good enough. PP was at least generating momentum, even if they weren't scoring. Now it's a momentum-killer.
