Quite the opposite. They bought their Real Estate at historical all-time highs that may never be surpassed again... in real terms.

So many people still don't understand that you can actually OWN #Bitcoin and how profound this is.

For those celebrating locking in mortgages at historically low ZIRP era rates... What you are missing is that there will not be a buyer for the houses bought during this period for anywhere near the prices that were paid... for the foreseeable future.

Coinbase is Bitcoin’s greatest vulnerability. Centralized custody at this scale threatens Bitcoin’s fiat price for a decade. A Coinbase collapse would dwarf FTX and Celsius combined and for some reason we don’t even talk about it.

@_Checkmatey_ Agree. We shouldn’t care about the type of manipulation that may be done by market makers. What we should be worried about, however, is the type of manipulation done by custodians who are selling customer Bitcoin. FTX won’t be the last and I’m afraid not the smallest such case

@Rhythmtrader Keep dreaming. Bitcoin is never going to hit $100,000!

In March of 2022, I tipped a waiter in a hotel something like $40 for an extended stay. However, because I had run out of cash and he had shown curiosity, I paid him in #Bitcoin. He downloaded BlueWallet on his Samsung phone and we performed a Lightning transaction. Today I saw that waiter again and asked him what had happened to those Bitcoin. He said that he had converted them soon after. Needless to say he may have been in a position where he needed cash, not an esoteric internet currency. Nonetheless, if he had held on, this tip today would be worth almost 3x what it was worth then. There are two lessons here: - Don’t spend your Bitcoin unless you have to (not on tips or anything else) - Don’t cash out of your Bitcoin unless you have to This is as true today as it was back then. Over an extended period of time, every currency is likely to lose purchasing power against the hardest currency ever invented.

The only reason #bitcoin is still so cheap is that there are a lot of people out there who think they are holding it, although they are really only holding IOUs that may or may not be backed by actual Bitcoin. So if you're able to take custody of real Bitcoin at these prices, this is a great opportunity!

When it comes to the game theory of #Bitcoin, people usually only talk about the upside and not the downside: As more and more institutions enter the Bitcoin market and the market cap increases, those players that missed the boat will be heavily incentivized to try and manipulate Bitcoin's rapid price discovery. Including nation states which may have a lot of resources to do so. I believe we will see nation states declare the disturbance of Bitcoin a matter of national security. And some of them will be successful 1) at prohibiting their citizens and institutions from entering the market and 2) actively going after honeypots, to gain cheaper exposure or to cause chaos in the ecosystem. All of this will not stop Bitcoin, but these FTX-like shocks will periodically act as drag on the price.
