Let me make this as simple as possible. An oven remains an oven even when it's not in use. It does not become a trouser press. For the avoidance of doubt, you are the trouser press in this analogy.

I think it is a good thing that Labour’s majority is not that massive record breaking majority! I do think it highlights the issues with our electoral system though, given their vote share is almost exactly the same as it was in 2019! #ProportionalRepresentation #Labour

@MartinSLewis I think most are happy to pay taxes in whatever form and accept that they are part of living in a civilised society. The bit everyone objects to, is the extreme waste, greed, and corruption!

Some people saying council tax should be based on the services used. I'm not sure that's thought through. If taxes were based solely on what you get out, the poorest would pay the most, the richest the least (as they do most things privately). In fact they wouldn't be taxes it'd be a series of service charges. Instead tax is the cost of living in a legitimate civil society. By contributing towards the common good, you hopefully live in a more contented society (less civil unrest to start with) which means when people need support they get some.

I've never met anyone who doesn't think trans people deserve the same rights and protections as everyone else. Militant trans activism doesn't want trans people to have the same rights, though. It wants women's and girls' rights and protections dismantled for the benefit of men.
