This is a bit of a stretch to say. Obedience to the institution (in this case the institution established by God. I.e. a Divine Institution; addition: i hate calling it an institution as it implies man made as this is not man made) and the teachings of that institution thats been taught for over 2k years and some for nearly 2k years (as the latter wasn't established until Pentecost in approx 33ad) has a thing or two of knowledge and know how in the spiritual life and about knowing God in how He allows us through His energies. It's not blind faith, it's trusting His Church

I’ve noticed that comprehension is not important to Trinitarians, just lip service to the belief set. My Anglican pastor told me he was sure that very few of the hundreds in his church understood the Trinity, but that they needed to state they believe it in order to be there. I have puns this consistently with every person o have discussed it with. You guys are promoters of blind faith, as you don’t believe God intended everyday people to understand and believe Him.

Ricky has brought a lot of smiles to people and has had a fulfilled life precisely cause people treated him as human. Maybe someday he will find himself in an Orthodox church

"I never scolded any believer for having doubts about the Faith, nor did I ask anyone to believe blindly. If I had done so, this would have meant that I was forcing them to accept the Orthodox Faith, not unlike those who ask them to believe their own faith without allowing them to make even one inquiry. On the contrary, I considered it imperative that these discussions be offered as valuable indications to the inquirer of my sole desire for him to know the truth of our Orthodox Faith. I was not disappointed. I had the joy of seeing the fruit of such discussions in those who had come with troubled faith. Afterward, they departed with tranquility and clarity of thought, like a mountain spring." Elder Cleopa, "The Truth of Our Faith"

Elder Cleopa of Romania's daily schedule (which I learned about reading "The Truth of our Faith" by this great man of God) 4:00-8:00 AM: Prayer. Psalms, Jesus Prayer, Morning Prayers, and intercessions for his spiritual children. Daytime 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM: Hearing confession, giving spiritual counsel, serving or attending services. Evening Rule beginning at 4:00 PM: Canon of Repentance, Canons to the Theotokos, Supplicatory Canon (Paraklesis), Small Compline, Other services as needed. That's roughly 14-15 hours of daily prayer. He often entered periods of complete silence, speaking to no one except when absolutely necessary. He prayed with such intensity that his disciples sometimes could not interrupt him even for practical needs. He considered his years praying alone in the mountains to be his "monastic and theological school". I hope that someday, my stupid rebellious soul will have even a fraction of the love for my fellow man, the discipline, and the consistency to have even anything remotely similar in my life. To be that kind of person that a person looks at and thinks "yeah that's a man of God." That takes a lifetime. That's why we venerate the Holy Saints of God. There is another level of the spiritual life that most people simply will never or have never experienced. And it's an honorable thing to recognize and aspire to. There are genuinely Holy people who have lived; will you be one of them?

In Christianity, something being old doesnt make it true. But the truth WILL be old. That's the point being made. If you are not asking for the old paths, you are not looking for biblical Christianity.

Some of my Prot friends continually send me Gavin Ortlund videos and I think I notice why they like him so much, despite his terrible arguments against Orthodoxy. Gavin Ortlund’s biggest asset isn’t his historical argument; it’s actually his tone. By framing his videos as a polite and objective quest for truth (a "just asking questions" mission) he has fooled a lot of Protestants into thinking he’s a neutral, charitable academic. It’s really a brilliant rhetorical shield, so I'll grant him that. But the facade slips when you look at the track record. He asks questions, gets corrected by Orthodox clergy and bishops, ignores the corrections, and repeats the original mischaracterization anyway. At a certain point, the "polite inquirer" routine is just a cover for a stubborn, pre-packaged Protestant agenda, allowing him to sit back and gaslight via concern-troll activism. I have no idea how to explain this to people who treat ‘polite tone’ as a sacrament that replaces validity, however.

Go talk to Fr. SDY and @Craig_Truglia @Acolyte83349490 we have dozens of clergy, Bishops who have done dissertations on how we dont hold to these things. It isnt difficult & frankly only reason one comes to this is they are building own theology by collecting quotes like Pokémon
Andrew@AndrewTheCalled

I explicitly rejected PSA and Original Sin and vehemently opposed both teachings for awhile and both were part of my reasons as to why Orthodoxy was “unique”, but both of these are basics of the Apostolic Deposit and are TRUE. Willing to be corrected and to engage with anyone.

When I became Orthodox I completely accepted the “ancestral / original sin distinction” that I was taught. I had no reason at all to question it, which is why I didn’t for years. Thousands of pages of patristics later, I realized it was just a modern novelty with no precedent in the Saints or Councils.

@Nicholai_Korea @Craig_Truglia @Acolyte83349490 I feel like everybody that's holding to PSA as Orthodox never studied PSA as a protestant and don't understand the boundaries that PSA outlines. Fr Stephen went to that reformed school and says it's not compatible with Orthodox. PSA ≠ substitution.

The other problem is that they are unfamiliar w latin scholastic satisfaxtion models. So they invariably post quotes that they think are expreasing PSA when its not at all. The next problem is the decelopment and changes in legal theory that took place from late antiquity to the early modern period. So they then just assume translated words into Engliah mean whatever rough and ready idea that they have in their head.
