People always do this thing when I mention Cushing’s where they think I’m somehow absolving someone of their culpability in being fat and fucked up, rather than just describing the state they’re in. “No they’re just fat.” Yeah man being fat like this where your neck disappears and your cortisol is constantly exploding is called Cushing’s. I could inject you with cortisol and you’d start transmogrifying into this but also people treat their bodies like shit or have a weak constitution or something terrible happened to them. They could just not eat and wouldn’t be as fat but would still have all the other ailments of a deteriorating body.

SSRIs are useful drugs, properly used. Peterson was addicted to benzodiazepines, a wholly different class of drug.
The only thing scarier than a doctor who wants to prescribe a drug is a parent who lacks the knowledge needed to make the decision and relies on "instinct" for medical care. Like voodoo dolls, it feels good but doesn't help.

Both of my children at one point were prescribed SSRIs. One had insane hallucinations the first night. The doctors said that it was not a result of the meds.
I know I am not a doctor but he didn't ever have hallucinations before take the pill, so I used my brain and didn't continue giving my child the drug.
The 2nd child years later also had mild hallucinations the first night. It was a different medication but still an SSRI. Again, the doc said it wasn't the drug. But that if I just gave it to him for a week he would settle in.
There is no way on this earth I wanted my children to settle in with any of these drugs.
