@griffgreen What about @HyphaDAO? It's building governance systems for communities. Its powering indigenous land trusts, regenerative villages, & co-ops, with reputation, DIDs, and creds for decision— enabling trust-based governance. Also, they've got multi-capital treasuries!

Scroll & EigenLayer scrapped their DAO plans. All discussion of decentralized sequencers? Gone. Honestly I am looking at the DAO space in Ethereum and I’m disappointed in us, what happened to replacing governments with this tech? Granted, projects like Gitcoin & Giveth are still pushing out new capital allocation tools, but with little support and overall the most exciting parts of Ethereum have stagnated. The regulatory environment loosens up so we stop pushing!?! Cardano is more interesting! Their Catalyst program is constantly evolving. This is Cardano’s largest grant program & it is decided staked ADA token holders with quadratic voting and has ~$40M to distribute. @socious_fund is experimenting with adding voting with DIDs alongside quadratic funding for distributing funds to non-profit causes, and they have a $500k QF round open right now with over 150 projects, the vast majority located in low income countries! Impact while innovating, I love to see it! Cardano is still early with a lot of governance tools, but they are actively building AI delegates, Community DAOs, and novel forms of liquid delegation, while battle testing it all with MILLIONS of dollars on the line. Whereas, my Ethereum timeline has WAAAY less of this stuff than ever before. The Regen and DAO vibes in Cardano are actually on the upswing, and it’s inspiring! Ethereum is focused on DATs and corporate stablecoins, OMFG, who cares!?!

Alcohol is an indirect GABA agonist, maybe someone needs to develop a drink that could do the same. But I think the issue is GABA doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier by itself so you can't just put it in a drink or take it as a supplement. So you need a small molecule that can cross the barrier that doesn't also cause bad effects like alcohol. Who knows it might not even be possible

One of the things I’m looking forward to most abt the future is when we come up with something that is a nice social bonding/loosening aid but that isn’t literal poison

@elonmusk When success is measured by the existence of an issue rather than its resolution, the system is bound to fail. The real question is, how can we redesign these incentive structures to reward solutions instead of sustaining problems?

The “save the homeless” NGOs are often paid according to how many homeless people are on the streets, thus creating a strong financial incentive for them to maximize the number of homeless people and never actually solve the problem! Incentives explain outcomes.
Thorolf Butter@ThorolfButter

@farzyness @elonmusk NGOs for homelessness or addiction generally have little incentive to solve either. The presence of social services programs will also attract homeless people from outside the region. Most of the visible homeless have smartphones and will relocate for access to welfare programs

Chiang Mai Flood Update. Things are much worse today. CM has become the Venice of the East. The river is at its highest level in recorded history. No more white trucks, only boats and people walking with water up to their shoulders. Power went out an hour ago. I adventured out yesterday and got a Durian, Mangosteens, and a bunch of water, we will be able to survive no problem for 2 days... but if the power stays out, we might try to evacuate tomorrow.

Chiang Mai Flood Update! Things aren't so bad; most of CM is fine, as long as you are 10 or so blocks from the river. Giant trucks are delivering food and people, like they work for Grab. They even delivered a @zeptimusQ... but he got off 1 stop too soon!

VIBECAMP as you pack up your sleeping bags and say your goodbyes Remember that just as it can take 24 hrs to settle in to a festival type atmosphere, you may also experience a dopamine crash after you leave Suddenly you’re back at home, in the real world & without your internet homies… and all after a long weekend too much sun, not enough sleep & whatever other dysregulating intensity that may have occurred. Feeling unsettled is normal!! Even just the effect on our bodies is quite extreme! Don’t be hard on yourself. Rest, and drink lots of fluids. And once you’ve recovered a bit, try to think about ways you can carry forward the sense of connection you found here into your life back home Maybe that’s hosting dinners, or virtual game nights. Maybe it’s organizing hikes, or movie nights There’s a sort of cascade effect that happens when people see others around them hosting things- more people start, and it can be surprising how quickly you can play a role in growing a local scene. Thank you so much for being on this ride with us, and we hope to see you again next year ❤️
