When legitimate concerns about housing pressure, social cohesion, integration failures and system abuse get instantly shut down with labels, people stop believing the conversation is honest.

My thoughts on the Liberals’ extreme, race-based migration policy: This Trump-style policy will go after Chinese families, Muslims, and even Christians from places like Lebanon and Iraq. It's just unaustralian. In this country, we care about who you are, not where you're from.

@marnievinall You’d love to see the league actually taking some action more broadly than just suspending players, and being very vocal about this action. Some sort of anti-discrimination campaign for a start. Mandatory player education etc.

It’s great the AFL are making their stance on homophobia clear (completely unacceptable). But the focus still needs to be on the underlying cultural issues that are seeing players enter the system extremely familiar with these slurs.
