I'm considering joining team 'expand the House of Representatives' 1 representative per 75,000 people would expand the house to about 4500 members My county would elect ~7 Reps, and my corner might be the only R district potential downside, small states lose EV clout.

@SDSLLC_USA The canon wasnt invented/edited down later. The Church recognized the books it had already been proclaiming in liturgy/worship as apostolic. Other writings(e.g.1 Clement) werent hidden, they were preserved but not treated as Scripture. The canon reflects reception not suppression

If Biblical scholars hundreds of years after the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ can decide which books of the Bible were "just made up" and removed them from the texts so that we can't learn from them, then how do we know that the entire Bible isn't "just made up"? It's a fair and honest question. Insults will not be tolerated, this is a post for discussion.

@JennyWakefiel12 “My burden is light” ≠ “no burden at all.” Jesus replaces the Pharisaical yoke with His own. Discipleship still involves repentance, obedience, and self-denial. Christ removes the burden that crushes, not the obedience that transforms.

Catholics will use lengthy word salads, redefinitions, twist scripture, and split hairs to deny their anti-biblical practices. Jesus’ yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
The Bible In Context@BibleInContext1

You Can’t Earn Salvation! Catholics will admit that they can’t earn “initial grace”, but they are changing the definition of grace and salvation because after this “initial grace”, they have to cooperate with that grace with their works to attain eternal life!

They skinned Matthew alive. They crucified Peter upside down. Boiled John in hot oil. Beheaded James with a sword. Hung Luke from an olive tree. Stoned Philip to death. None of the apostles died for a lie.

@prejoal @Xtopher_Uzo Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:14-15

@Xtopher_Uzo God/Jesus forgives & has forgiven me since I left catholicism. catholic priest CANNOT and HAS NOT forgiven ONE sin of himself or others. This is a SCAM. This practice began somewhere in 6th or 7th century. The Apostles linked forgiveness with repentance and faith in Jesus

Catholics listen up... When Jesus looked at the paralyzed man at Capernaum and said "Friend, your sins are forgiven". Did you know what happened next? The religious leaders, who were present, specifically the Scribes and Pharisees (present day protestants), objected in their hearts, thinking: "Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Knowing their thoughts, Jesus challenged them by asking which was easier? To say "Your sins are forgiven" or to say "Get up and walk?". Now this is the divine dynamite... To prove He had the authority on earth to forgive sins, he commanded the paralyzed man to stand up, take his mat, and go home - which the man immediately did. Why am I bringing this? That same Jesus Christ who did this, gave authority to the Apostles to FORGIVE and RETAIN sins. As a Catholic, do not listen to what the protestants and pentecostals are saying about the Sacrament of reconciliation via confession. Never you doubt the authority which Christ has given his priests to absolve you of your sins during confession. The priests have the authority to absolve sins, and the Heavens will honor them. Christe eleison!!

@oliverburdick Early mosaics showing Jesus as God are great, but they don’t exist in a vacuum. Another early Christian mosaic honored Peter’s primacy and unique role as "chief and commander of the heavenly apostles". If archaeology matters, it has to be applied consistently.

@JoshuaBarzon The Fathers didnt agree on everything but on key issues they were remarkably unified: baptismal regeneration, infant baptism, the real presence, Eucharistic sacrifice, apostolic succession, a visible Church, prayers for the dead. That consensus isnt found in Protestant theology.

Very good points here. I love and respect many of the early church fathers. But their teachings and writings must always be viewed as below scripture. Not equal with it.

@GuitarmanJoel St. Justin doesn’t just describe readings and a sermon. He says the Eucharist isn’t ordinary bread, only the baptized can receive, it’s offered with thanksgiving, and it’s distributed even to the absent. That’s a sacramental, structured liturgy, not a modern non-denom service.

@sola_chad Jesus doesn’t limit God’s word to what’s written“you have heard it said/but I say to you,” exercising living authority. In Scripture, “word of God” isn’t a synonym for the Bible: it refers to Christ (John 1:1), apostolic preaching (1 Thess 2:13), a message that “grows” (Acts 6:7)

@ThWawerka @ShaneSchaetzel John 6 and the Last Supper have everything to do with each other. John's Gospel doesn't have the same LS narrative as the synaptic gospels because it was written last, and that aspect of the LS was already widely known. John gives us Christ's introduction to the LS at Capernaum.

@sola_chad Clement 32 rejects self-justification and boasting, not obedience. He explicitly says we’re “justified by works, not words” (1 Clem 30:3) and must keep God’s commandments, so he’s not teaching sola fide in the Reformation sense.

@sola_chad Ephesians 2:1-10 is about baptism not faith alone. When Paul says we’re saved ‘by grace through faith, not of works,’ he’s not defining a ‘faith-alone’ system. He’s rejecting works that give grounds for boasting, especially works of the Mosaic Law like circumcision (Eph 2:11-15).

@Truth_matters20 Luke 7 shows faith expressed through repentance and love (v.47). “Your faith has saved you” isn’t defining a system of faith alone. It’s describing a faith that acts.

@poopybutt2009 @5Solas2 1 Corinthians 1:17 isn’t about what baptism does. It’s about divisions over who baptized you. St. Paul is rebuking factionalism, not denying baptism’s role. He still ties baptism to new life (Rom 6:3–4), and Scripture connects it to salvation (1 Pet 3:21).

@ShaneSchaetzel John isn‘t about Eucharist. There is no Eucharist according to John. 1 Kor 10 I see „community with“. 1 Kor 11 is the oldest witness of the Eucharist formula. I see not „vine is blood“, but „cup represents new testament“.

@pzj1801 @UsuryName @EcciusMaximus Nothing prior to justification—neither faith nor works—merits the grace of justification. You don’t earn justification. You don’t “trigger” it by a human act. Your initial faith is itself a gift of grace. Its grace alone. Grace is primary, initiating, and necessary.

@Abrakhadabra93 @roarofthefour That’s imposing a narrative on the text, not drawing from it. There’s a difference between reading Scripture in its historical context and retrofitting it into a later esoteric framework. Genesis/Hebrews don’t describe a hidden global priesthood, they’re being made to serve one.

The Eucharistic ritual predates the Catholic Church by millennia, and although it is used in the Catholic Church today, the original ritual comes from the Order of Melchizedek who was the first to do it, according to the Bible itself. (Genesis 14:18-20)
MariaGraceVT🤍🐑@MariaGraceVT

Genuine question, what is the reason why non-Catholic can't take the Eucharist? Like how is it functionally different if say a Christian from a different denomination takes it and a Catholic takes it?
