@DavidHengen Safer supply is by prescription and is monitored. It also provably helps people connect with recovery and healthcare. But she wants to conflate a limited program with handing out drugs on the streets willy nilly. She's a liar.

"Everyday British Columbians know that just handing out free drugs won’t get people well." is a very funny thing to say in a country with public healthcare. To accentuate how dumb this is, most opiates that are handed out are for pain, for free, to everyday British Columbians.
Caroline Elliott@NVanCaroline

Conservative values are everyday values. Everyday British Columbians know you can’t spend like crazy without causing major budget issues. Everyday British Columbians know that just handing out free drugs won’t get people well. Everyday British Columbians know that criminals belong in jail, not neighbourhoods. 👉 Agree? @Beefshaver lol no she isn’t. She’s talking about safe supply fentanyl drugs to crackheads on the street. “Get well and into recovery”. She is not talking about prescription drugs to general population.

@DavidHengen Yes, that's the point. She's conflating a medically monitored prescription drug given to a very small population with all illicit drugs.

@MarkMcGrathCFP You’re a good man for saying that. I’m all VEQT/VFV but I still like seeing all the dividends and calculating what my annual income would be if I just took those as income.

Man as much as I've dunked on dividend investors in the past, after living off my portfolio the past few months I definitely get the appeal. I know it's not optimal. I know it's mental accounting. But the emotional and psychological aspect of it is more obvious to me now.

@marissenmark At least it’s entertaining watching the centre left try to reign in the extreme left, who’ve been running the show this whole time.

No, Carney is not "throwing indigenous people under the bus." Of course governments must protect private property rights. And the Cowichan Tribes have explicitly said they are not seeking to take private property. The court suspended parts of its ruling for 18 months to allow governments and the parties time to work through this issue. No government would survive allowing people to lose their private property. Which is why it is not going to happen.

Carney throwing indigenous people under the bus next Seriously there’s nothing liberal about this Liberal government. Disgraceful

@elsterrato What is the point here? You can't force people to care or stick around. Growth has to come organically and naturally. Looks like decent crowds for the women.

@danielfoch as usual, people like fuzzy, vague, feel-good concepts but when the implementation impacts us, we aren't as generous as we think.

Most people say they want affordable housing. What they usually mean is: “I want my kids to be able to buy a house, but I also want my house to go up 8% a year forever, and I definitely do not want a fourplex near me.” That is the Canadian housing crisis in one sentence.

On the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 800 (overwhelmingly “white heterosexual”) men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment went over the top. 68 answered roll call the next morning. Now their male descendants can’t work at NL’s only university which was named in their honour.

@MarkMcGrathCFP It's the "increasing inequalities" language that tells me they have identified their trojan horse to getting the larger population on board with modifying these accounts. The seed will be watered and harvested in a few years

@DavidHengen my hope is that they actually modelled this out and already realized there would be tens of billions of dollars in TFSAs, so that it's not a surprise to them. but honestly who knows

In my opinion, there is zero excuse for Muriel Furrer to not be found for 82 (!) minutes after her crash, regardless of whether that time would’ve had an influence on her chances of survival. What has frustrated me the most over the last few years is the UCI’s attempt to remove race radios before implementing GPS tracking. At Catalunya, Tom Pidcock crashed into a ravine, and was able to inform his team car, through the race radio. That’s the perfect example of why the UCI made a bad judgement with that approach. And Pidcock is not the only rider in that specific scenario in the last 3 years. I’m really happy to see GPS tracking finally being used, like the Velon SaVe system recently seen at RVV and DDV, although, in my opinion, it took too long and too much fighting between stakeholder to happen.
Jacob Whitehead@jwhitey98

A reminder: Furrer died in September 2024 after crashing at her home world championships. She was not found for almost an hour-and-a-half despite crashing just 15 minutes from her home. No riders were wearing trackers despite technology being offered. nytimes.com/athletic/60064…

@AOgieglo this is a bad idea for two reasons: 1. While there still exists the Western Select discount, O&G co's are effectively paying extra tax already 2. As there profits go up, so do the royalties and taxes collected go up. The profit goes to shareholders (us) or gets reinvested.

@CyclingWerewolf @BenjiNaesen Weight should affect tire pressure - if you use a calculator; Higher weight = more pressure. Should help offset punctures somewhat at least

Punctures are often bad luck, but not every puncture is. Some riders inherently have a better technique and line-choice, and in general, riders that are more fatiqued or take more risks, make more mistakes in choosing their line. #ParisRoubaix
An American Werewolf In Cycling@CyclingWerewolf

Some friends a question @BenjiNaesen @InsideOut2912 @faustocoppi60 is there anything you can do to prevent a puncture like Mads just had, or is it really just the luck of the road?

@scriptjunkie1 @laflammerouge16 I saw he had some big ones on when I was rewatching it later today. So even he flatted on big tires. Maybe pressure was too low. The bigger tires should reallly help with the cobbles.
