Ford CEO in new interview:
“We'll have an all-electric, affordable vehicle to compete with Model Y and Model 3. I think there's nothing else like it on the market. We started a skunkworks team 4 years ago. They were basically Formula 1 and Tesla people. That vehicle is radically different. I'm really excited to show everyone maybe late this year or (early) next year. It will be coming out next year.”

@davepl1968 Where the chrome parts good enough to buff? All the aluminum trim looks fantastic along w/ the chrome. That's typically the granular details that really make a resto hard, but great.

This is my truck.
I restored it myself, except for the paint and the automatic transmission. It took me five years.
I started with a well-loved but tired 100,000-mile truck that had been owned by the original owner for nearly 50 years.
Then I got a notebook, a camera, and started taking it apart. I just removed the next obvious thing. I'd take pictures from a couple of angles, take notes, remove them, tag them, sort them, and store them.
I eventually stripped the truck all the way down to the two bare frame rails. Then I had that frame blasted and powder coated.
Next, I restored every subassembly and component. Then I started reassembly.
Believe it or not, I just used my notes in reverse order, and as you'd hope, it worked perfectly.
It was rust-free, but I had the paintwork done by Musclecar Restorations in Chippewa Falls, WI.

The notion that people with autism don't "like people" is an old trope.
Some of the "hermits" are simply people who have trouble interacting with neurotypical folks, whether they like it or not.
Many people with ASD start out as bright extroverts who get slowly conditioned to be "careful" socially lest they get mocked, rejected, etc. So a lot of the "hermit" factor is just conditioning.

In addition to having the full high-functioning autist power set, Elon also genuinely likes being around and working with other people, which is a bit rare. The correlation between deep technical ability and anti-social hermit tendencies is real, and it limits a lot of people (ahem).

The M4 is an AR15.
But even if we engage with the ridiculous counterfactual (that AR15=semiauto because most AR15s are semiauto), you can't square the fact that most AR15s have barrels longer than 14.5 inches, which does make them "more powerful" than the M4...

I responded to a veteran who made the claim that the AR-15 is more powerful than the standard military issue M4. Then another vet came behind him and basically said I’m the one who doesn’t know guns. Here’s the problem: Respect for your service and being factually right are not automatically the same thing. The modern civilian AR-15 is semi-auto only. The M4 can do more. Same basic platform. Same round. So how exactly is the civilian rifle somehow “more powerful”? It isn’t. And this is exactly how bad gun arguments spread — people hear confidence, emotion, and credentials… and assume that means the facts are solid. So I want to hear from y’all: Should veteran status protect somebody from criticism when they’re wrong about guns?
