As a candidate for Texas Railroad Commission, I have one simple question, Why the hell are we still funding the Inflation Reduction Act? I was pissed when the Democrats passed the bill, because it shut down a lot of businesses in my industry. The Inflation Reduction Act takes billions of dollars out of our pockets to give a subsidy to the big seven oil companies so they can build wind, solar, and battery facilities while building carbon capture plants. I wanted to learn everything I could about the industry I had just joined in 2005, so I subscribed to every magazine possible. I remember reading an article in 2007 or 2008 about how the industry had found CO2 was a better medium for production enhancement than water flood programs. The problem was that CO2 was only worth $18.73 per ton back then. In order for that to become a viable solution, CO2 had to have a value of somewhere around $85 per ton. Fast forward 15 years and the introduction of the “Inflation Reduction Act” and the first “Carbon Credit.” Does anyone remember the value of the first “Carbon Credits?” It was worth $85 per ton. They say that the atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are getting too high. So, I have taken every opportunity I had while sharing the stage with Ph.D+ alphabet professors and scientists to ask one simple question, “How much is too much CO2 for human life and what is the bottom threshold for plant life (our food supply) to thrive. I remind them that I know the answer and we are very close to the bottom threshold. They have all responded with the same response, “this is more complicated than just simple numbers.” It is only complicated when you are getting paid to spread lies. I am still waiting for one Ph.D + alphabet to go on the record and answer my question. I used to get excited every time the oil executives visited Trump, because that meant we were drilling more. Now I cringe every time I hear that they are at the White House because I know they are sweet talking the deal to screw U.S. out of more tax dollars.
