@scottew Scott, Jesus said be one. Not republican or democrat or libertarian. This means it’s possible for us to be one despite our different points of view. Let pull ourselves together; not apart.

No mystery here. MAGA takeover of the GOP is the root cause of LDS exits. More will leave/be purged from the party as LDS MAGA continues to target more moderate normie members, especially women, e.g., heckling them for "naive" civility and "suicidal empathy" (see the replies).

OK, so what's the truth about Latter-day Saint political affiliation? Over the past two decades, the share of Latter-day Saints who identify as Republicans has fallen by 10% — from around 68.5% (2007-2010) to 57.5% (2022-2025) — with the loss evenly split between increases in Democratic affiliation & no affiliation. Latter-day Saints went from being the most Republican-leaning religious group in the country ... to being the 2nd most, behind white evangelicals. In 2025, GOP affiliation sill outnumbered Democratic affiliation by a 40-point margin among Latter-day Saints. What's the big deal? Latter-day Saints were the only religious group where the GOP lost its advantage over those 20 years. Every other group (except for atheists) moved in the opposite direction, erasing Democrats' decadeslong domination over partisan affiliation. Why? Brad Jones, the author of this @YouGovAmerica analysis of Cooperative Election Study data (and a BYU grad), said it could be Latter-day Saints' high rate of college education playing into the educational polarization that has defined the Trump era of American politics. Quin Monson, a BYU professor who wrote the book on Latter-day Saint politics, said another explanation for dissatisfaction with the GOP among some Latter-day Saints could be a perceived conflict with teachings about civility, compromise and the Constitution. Turning Point Action COO Tyler Bowyer, a Latter-day Saint who runs Charlie Kirk’s campaign operation, said criticisms from prominent Latter-day Saint politicians may have led to a temporary aversion to the GOP of Donald Trump, which is now being reversed. What do you think? Here's my full article on the question: deseret.com/politics/2026/…

My biggest regret was ever being vulnerable on this app. My biggest regret is just me being a douche bag too. Also, the more I go to church, the worse I feel. My testimony is fading. Idk if this church or god is for me anymore

My joint statement with @LeaderJohnThune on DHS funding: We appreciate and share the President’s determination to once and for all bring an end to the Democrat DHS shutdown.   In the coming days, Republicans in the Senate and House will be following through on the President’s directive by fully funding the entire Department of Homeland Security on two parallel tracks: through the appropriations process and through the reconciliation process.   We appreciate that Senator Graham and the Senate Budget Committee have already initiated the process of developing a budget resolution that will ensure border security and immigration enforcement will be funded for the balance of the Trump Administration and insulated from future attempts by the Democrats to defund those agencies.   We operated under a belief that while our country is in the midst of an international armed conflict, Democrats might finally come to their senses and understand that defunding our homeland security agencies is beyond reckless and very dangerous. While we hoped they would accept the 60-day CR to fund the Department entirely so that bipartisan negotiations could continue, it is now abundantly clear that Democrats place allegiance to their radical left-wing base above all else — including their own power of the purse — which means open borders and protecting criminal illegal aliens. That is not acceptable to Republicans in Congress, nor is it to the American people. We cannot allow Democrats to any longer put the safety of the American public at risk through their open border policies, so we are taking that off the table.   In following this two-track approach, the Republican Congress will fully reopen the Department, make sure all federal workers are paid, and specifically fund immigration enforcement and border security for the next three years so that those law-enforcement activities can continue uninhibited. In return, Democrats will once again demonstrate to the American people their support for open borders and keeping criminal illegal immigrants in America.

I just realized the reason BYU fans and ND fans hate each other so much is because they are both smug, religious schools that are still living in the 80s.

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

My advice: if you’re like me and teaching gospel doctrine, lean into this. Cut the fluff. No more recapping full lessons. Prayerfully identify 1-2 doctrinal points. Go deep into them. You don’t need an hour to make an impact. Ask good questions and let the spirit guide you.

I’d much rather hear when I was studying a conference talk from David A Bednar I had a spiritual impression vs when I was listening to a podcast the person said… they are two different things
Scorp@Scorp67a

@collinsworth55 I don’t get the anti-podcast flex. If they are helping people better understand the gospel and connect with the Savior, why is that a bad thing?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
In advance of the upcoming general conference leadership session (April 2, 2026), The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced upcoming adjustments to the Sunday class meeting schedule to support members in their efforts to be lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. The adjustments will strengthen gospel learning in homes and congregations throughout the world. Beginning September 6, 2026, the alternating weekly schedule for Sunday School and quorum or class meetings will be replaced. Under the updated schedule: • Sunday School, Relief Society, elders quorum, Young Women and Aaronic Priesthood quorum meetings will be held each week. • Sacrament meeting will continue to be 60 minutes, followed by brief transition periods. • Sunday School and quorum and class meetings will each be 25 minutes. • Primary will continue every Sunday and will be 55 minutes, held while adults and youth attend their respective classes. • Where local circumstances necessitate, units may begin with Primary and quorum and class meetings and conclude with sacrament meeting.
