রাজারহাট গোপালপুরের মানুষের হাতে যে লিফলেটটি তুলে দেওয়া হচ্ছে, তাতে যে উন্নয়নের দাবি করা হয়েছে, তা বাস্তবের সঙ্গে একেবারেই মেলে না। এলাকার মানুষ নিজেরাই জানেন মাটির সত্যিটা কী। তবুও কিছু প্রশ্ন সামনে রাখা জরুরি— প্রথমত, বলা হচ্ছে ২৬০ কোটি টাকা খরচ করে নিকাশি ব্যবস্থা ও স্থায়ী পরিকাঠামো উন্নত করা হয়েছে। যদি তা সত্যি হয়, তাহলে আজও সামান্য বৃষ্টিতেই জল জমে যায় কেন? মানুষকে ভোগান্তির শিকার হতে হয় কেন? দ্বিতীয়ত, ৩৯১ কোটি টাকার জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্পের দাবি করা হয়েছে। কিন্তু বাস্তবে আজও বহু এলাকায় পানীয় জল পৌঁছায়নি। কেন্দ্রের জল জীবন মিশনের সুবিধাও অনেক জায়গায় কার্যকর হয়নি। তাহলে এই বিপুল অর্থ কোথায় গেল? তৃতীয়ত, বিভিন্ন জায়গায় আলো বসানোর জন্য টাকা খরচ হয়েছে বলে দাবি করা হচ্ছে। কিন্তু বাস্তব হলো, এখনও বিশাল এলাকা অন্ধকারে ডুবে থাকে। তাহলে সেই খরচের হিসাব কোথায়? চতুর্থত, স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবার কথা বলা হচ্ছে, কিন্তু এলাকার স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্রগুলোর অবস্থা অত্যন্ত শোচনীয়। একটি উন্নতমানের সরকারি হাসপাতালের অভাব স্পষ্ট। এমন পরিস্থিতিতে প্রশ্ন ওঠে—যারা এই উন্নয়নের দাবি করছেন, তারা কি নিজেরা এই পরিষেবা ব্যবহার করবেন? কেষ্টপুর-বাগুইআটি ফ্লাইওভারের নিচে বেআইনি দখল করে যে নির্মাণ হয়েছে, সেটার জন্য ১ কোটি টাকা খরচের দাবি করা হচ্ছে। এই খরচের স্বচ্ছতা কোথায়? কাটমানি কে নিয়েছে? এলাকার খেলার মাঠগুলো দখল করে সেখানে বাড়ি তৈরি করা হচ্ছে, আর রাস্তাঘাটের উপর পার্ক বানিয়ে উন্নয়নের নাম দেওয়া হচ্ছে—এটা কি সত্যিই উন্নয়ন, না কি পরিকল্পিত দুর্নীতি? সুইমিং পুল নির্মাণের কথা বলা হচ্ছে, কিন্তু প্রশ্ন হলো—রাজারহাট গোপালপুরের যে প্রাকৃতিক পুকুরগুলো ছিল, সেগুলো আজ কোথায়? সেগুলো কেন ভরাট হয়ে গেল? ভিআইপি রোডের ধারে যে নয়নজুলি ছিল, সেগুলোর অস্তিত্ব আজ আর নেই। পরিবেশ ধ্বংস করে কি উন্নয়ন সম্ভব? এলাকার স্কুলগুলোর অবস্থাও সন্তোষজনক নয়। শিক্ষার মানোন্নয়নের কোনও দৃশ্যমান উদ্যোগ নেই। তাহলে ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের জন্য কী রেখে দেওয়া হচ্ছে? এই সমস্ত প্রশ্নের উত্তর জনগণ চাইছে। উন্নয়নের নামে প্রচার নয়, বাস্তব কাজ এবং স্বচ্ছতার প্রয়োজন। মানুষের চোখে ধুলো দেওয়ার দিন শেষ—এবার জবাবদিহির সময়।
