I've decided to share my detransition story so that other people might benefit from it and not be harmed by transgender healthcare in the way that I was. My hope is with stories like mine the standard for trans healthcare may improve and people will be treated properly. 🧵

For decades, those of us speaking about the harms caused by taking and coming off psychiatric drugs have been ignored, denied or dismissed. I’ve been labeled everything from “antipsychiatry,” “anti-science,” and “Scientologist,” to “right-wing fascist” and “anti-vax,” to simply “too mentally ill” to understand what was happening to me. Now the APA’s own annual meeting is full of panels on deprescribing, overmedication, withdrawal, and psychiatrists openly admitting they regret not helping patients come off these drugs sooner. The hundreds of thousands of personal stories of psychiatric iatrogenesis have become impossible to keep waving away as meaningless anecdotes. I have deep compassion for how hard it must be to face the possibility that you’ve been inadvertently causing harm to patients you’ve been trying to help. But fear is the master distorter of truth, and the only way out is through. We are eager to build a big-tent coalition to begin work on these changes we all know are necessary. I hope you’ll join us.

An effort is being made by some frighteningly sick people in the gender critical community to normalize & validate violence & viciousness when it is aimed at trans identified people, based only on that characteristic. Many of these people are innocent, young, lost, and confused.
Maia Poet🦎@thepeacepoet99

🚨I was wrong. When I entered the gender conversation publicly, I thought that “my side” (the gender critics) were motivated in our advocacy by our concern about the welfare of the young people who are being haphazardly placed onto an experimental social & medical gender transition pathway based on a shoddy evidence base underpinning. Apparently, I was wrong. Turns out, some of you on “my side” have neither concern nor compassion for the young people who find themselves ensnared in this, at all. I call the trans activists out all the time when they do this, and I now feel compelled to do the same to those who share many of my beliefs: It is unacceptable to politicize the death of a brutally murdered young person by denying them their very humanity, while also claiming to stand on the side of human rights. This is the realm of the most evil kind of hypocrisy imaginable. Celebrating, joking or making light of the murders of innocent people, be they Charlie Kirk or Juniper Blessing cannot ever be tolerated. We mustn’t allow disagreements over ideology or with the lifestyles of others cause us to lose our humanity. Because politics based upon nothing more than contempt will NEVER create a more just and peaceful world. Rest in peace, Juniper. You deserved to live 80 more years. You deserved to be still singing in your choir. You deserved to be attending your college classes. You deserved to make the stupid mistakes that all young people will make, and to grow old enough to learn from them. You deserved the chance to become a brilliant scientist with enough hard work on your part. Or you deserved to have the chance to realize that maybe atmospheric science wasn’t your calling, and then to try on a new hat. Or to try on 500 hats until you found the one that fit. You deserved to grow up. You did not deserve to be murdered by a deranged lunatic, whatever his deranged motive, while you were just trying to do your laundry. And you certainly did not deserve to have your murder paraded around as cannon fodder in one of the most caustic issues of our time, by BOTH sides of the issue. Juniper, may your memory be for blessing. You deserved so much better.

I concur with everything Maia said here Once upon a time, I wondered if I was born wrong or a defective female. I was young, naive, but luckily not lost enough to get surgery, which I did research at 15-16. However, I had no ill intentions. I didn't fit stereotypes and felt out of place. That's it. Not everyone who struggles with stereotypes is a creep. Not every trans person is a creep either, especially not as kids. A teenager was murdered. That's absolutely heartbreaking.

@TTExulansic @marycatedelvey Murder is wrong. When people make light of senseless violence, I take issue with that. We know nothing about Juniper’s background or whether there was CSA. Not sure why the default assumption is that this teenager who was murdered is that he harmed someone.

Either you believe that we all get to have freedoms to exist as we wish and that for this to work, we must learn to coexist with people who make different choices from our own OR you believe in the type of authoritarian, mob murder that is routinely seen in 3rd world sh*thole countries. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

I recently learned that SSRIs like Prozac can cause heavier menstrual bleeding, and it makes me think of my SSRI to hormonal birth control pipeline. One prescription leads to another, then another—and somewhere along the way, nobody stops to ask if the first domino caused the rest.

You’re acting like I don’t get those same death threats from those same trans identifying men. 19 year old Juniper was not one of them. Juniper was a teenager. An innocent teenager. Who did not deserve to die

A lot of the problem with trans theorising is that everyone is doing what the activists hoped you would do: see it as one phenomenon. Sissy fetishism and third gender roles are two different things. What does Dave the crossdressing software engineer have to do with an Indonesian shemale prostitute? Nothing, until about 2012.
Timwestern774@timwestern774

@RoisinMichaux In 1919, Magnus Hirschfeld opened the Clinic for Sexology in Berlin, which not only treated trans patients, but also sought to parse the difference between gay and trans. npr.org/2023/03/01/116…

Do teen boys who have been brainwashed by trans ally (mostly) FEMALE adults to think that it’s acceptable for them to use women’s spaces, really deserve the death penalty carried out by a deranged lunatic who stabs them to death 40+ times in a college laundry room? Are you f***ing serious right now?

Patients who share their antidepressant withdrawal experiences get cast as fringe—anti-establishment types who always refused the medical system. But the system spat us out. Anyone who went on medication once trusted it deeply. That's why we're here.
