@TTChelps what's up with the crackly announcements on Line 5 Eglinton? I thought it was a one-time thing but I'm noticing it again today.

@JoshMatlow Why does it need funding?? Is it not simply a policy decision?

It’s wrong that the Finch & Eglinton LRTs don’t have signal priority. Billions of dollars were spent, only for “rapid transit” to go slower than the buses it replaced. Last Spring at Council, I moved for signal priority on these lines. The 2026 budget must fund this priority.

or barely 1/3rd the speed of the subway. I really have to ask... what are we doing here? @Metrolinx promised average speeds of 20-21 km/h: metrolinx.com/en/projects-an… and the line is barely doing half of that, and slower than the bus. @TTChelps do you hate your riders? What gives???

The Bloor-Danforth subway has average speeds of ~32km/h. The Line 6 Finch West shuttle bus runs the route in 32 minutes according to Google Maps, for an average speed of ~19km/h. And the Finch West LRT takes 53 minutes end-to-end, which is less than 12 km/h ...

@mikemcintyrewpg I would love to see someone do a deep-dive on corporate season ticket sales of NHL teams- % of overall ticket sales, how much is local companies vs big multi-nationals, etc. I'm sure data would be hard to come by. Just wonder how much room for growth the Jets realistically have.

The #NHLJets have, by far, the least corporate support of any Canadian team. That's been a big issue here, as they rely on Joe and Jane Fan far more than any other team to help fill the building.

@mikemcintyrewpg Thank goodness Corporations get tax credits on giving away promotional items like hockey tickets , I doubt that place would be half full without them.

@EScrimshaw The trend is clearer when you look specifically at ON elections: did ON's elect a different party than the one in power federally? The answer is yes in 34/43 provincial elections (~80%), and all but 3 in the last century or so. Ergo Ford will win, but the fed elxn is still TBD.

@David_Moscrop Counterpoint: the Conservatives have also only won one, and the NDP zero. Maybe majority governments just aren't the natural state of our politics anymore.

The Liberal Party has won a single majority government -- one -- in the last quarter century. And its majorities in the 1990s weren't the work of genius; they were helped along by a fractured right. Is the party reckoning with that record? I don't think so.

The anti-bike lane legislation passed by the Ontario government saw a record number of comments, over 19,000. Virtually all comments seem to be in opposition. The ERO has released a summary. Meanwhile, in Toronto, decisions are regularly made based on 5-50 public comments.

@tellesinus @sharinglung5 @viinikka @observinthecity I'm not sure if this is a serious comment but if so it's the worst argument I have heard yet, by far, in favour of removing bike lanes. And to be clear all of the arguments are very bad. But this one is the worst. Not serious people

@sharinglung5 @viinikka @observinthecity Alternatives to University Avenue: Beverley/St. George Street, Bay Street, Jarvis Street. It is also our representative road for Queens Park, for processions, parades, foreign dignitaries - the amount of space 3 lanes on each side provides adds to the majesty.

@ColinDMello A masterclass in distraction. What about housing? Healthcare? Education? If anyone seriously thinks removing bike lanes or the carbon tax will make their commute shorter or their life more affordable, Doug has a beach house in Idaho to sell you. Pandering to the lowest IQ voters.

NEW: Latest PC party ad just dropped. It features “Doug’s plan” and highlights recent policies on bike lanes, tolls, supervised consumption sites and the federal carbon price. What it does not mention is the 401 tunnel. #onpoli

It’s about listening to people. They’re sick of traffic, they’re concerned about their kids’ safety playing in parks and, most of all, they’re worried about the high cost of living.   I get it. It’s why I’ll never stop listening and why I'll never stop working for you.

@mikemcintyrewpg They sure picked a good time to go on a tear. Makes me wonder if TNSE can find a smart way to leverage this hot streak a bit more. Black Friday deal for season ticket packs maybe? That barn ought to be full or darn close to it every night, the way this team is playing.

I crunched some #NHLJets attendance numbers. Last season average after first 9 home games: 11,874 (0 sellouts, smallest crowd 11,136) This season average after first 9 home games; 13,764 (2 sellouts, smallest crowd 12,912). Nearly 2,000 per game jump year-over-year so far.

Thousands of Ontario residents came together to send a message to @fordnation and @PrabSarkaria that bike lanes save lives, solve congestion and transport goods.

@PrabSarkaria Hey I can play this game too. "Bill 212, the Waste Money to Make Traffic Worse Act" will force cyclists to take the full lane shared with cars. Do you think this plan is extremely stupid, very stupid, just stupid, okay or don't know?"

@PrabSarkaria @PrabSarkaria Please do your homework on bike lanes and congestion. The 2 major causes of congestion in Toronto are too many cars without adequate public transit and rampant construction easements which should be outlawed. Bike lanes reduce congestion and balance road access.
