@JulianH38269819 @DavePrichard Anyone can join the class, but in Texas, we had tryouts. Especially for basketball and later season sports, there would be kids in the period who would not make the team after tryouts, and would be moved to PE.

1. They do nothing for the academic environment
2. They can easily create a disruptive environment
3. In younger grades, they put undue stress & cost on parents who try to make sure their kid is included.
4. If schools do have spirit days, they should be to increase the STUDENTS’ school spirit. Teachers and admin should remain professionally dressed. If teachers want to be treated like other college-credentialed professionals, we need to give up the pajama pants.

@DavePrichard Band does not get a class, Music does. Sports don't get a class, Gym does. Bands and sports are typically before or after classes - hence the phrase "Extra Curricular".
