@RoKhanna Dude what happened? I am a swing voter. I donated money to you. You can be angry with the Supreme Court decisions, I get it. But packing the court is a red line. The obvious outcome is they pack it back. Or you establish a dictatorship to stop them. It’s bad man.

The next Democratic White House does not need a court reform commission like some college seminar. We need action. We need term limits for Justices. We need to expand this morally bankrupt Court from 9 to 13.

@SuitableAlias Tocchet has a room temperature IQ. God damn. When you have supremely talented players, the optimal path is not to make them play like 3rd/4th liners, it’s to allow them to go manufacture offense. The fact that Briere is signing off on this is mind blowing.

I've been saying this for 2+ years. Interest stacks / LALs for niche-y products make mathematical sense. Instead of asking the algorithm to surface patterns across an audience of ~270M people, you compress the search space to 10M people. End result? (1) Better prior (if real buyers are ~0.5% of the broad audience + better targeting increases density to 5%, you've raised the probability of a conversion by 10x before learning); (2) faster signal acquisition (Meta needs ~50 conversions/week/ad set to exit learning. Higher buyer density = more stable customer acquisition = less wasted spend + faster learning exit. This is particularly true with LALs, because they do something IS can't: they cluster in Meta's latent feature space + capture unique, non-intuitive buyer/prospect signatures that no IS could possibly surface. End of the day: broad can be great if you have a product in a known category with massive TAM (i.e. buyer density in the general population is sufficiently high that the costs of segmentation are higher than the benefits). But if you have a product that targets a niche buyer (or if you have multiple buyer segments), LALs/IS can make a lot of mathematical sense.
Peter Czepiga@peterczepiga

Could Interest targeting on Meta be making a comeback? This new update in June will allow advertisers to describe their target audience instead of searching through thousands of Meta's interest options. Meta will use AI to surface the right options, reminiscent of TikTok Ads Manager's "recommended interests" feature. This runs counter to the popular narratives right now: "media buying will be dead soon" "Meta is simplifying the ads experience" etc The number of complex ad product rollouts has accelerated in the last 12 months: this, incremental attribution, expansion of Value Rules, Profit Optimization, lead quality optimization... Optionality in the media buying workflow is getting MORE, not LESS complex

100%. There's no variation or counters built into the system. My juniors team had a more complex + adaptable system than PHI showed against CAR. Couple that with a lack of speed + it's no wonder CAR showed our F group no respect. Why would they not compress the D-F gaps in the NZ? Just asinine that ::this:: is what passes for NHL coaching.

@DigitalSamIAm @avappleyard Compound that with a philosophy of playing it safe at all costs, and you have a team that essentially needs a good bounce to get out of their own end. He relaxed on that philosophy somewhat to go with the structural changes for the playoff push. But he went right back!

@SuitableAlias @avappleyard Tocchet's system isn't that good or that adaptable. He's basically the Kevin Patullo of the NHL.

@avappleyard I'm not sure they ever go for anything else on controlled breakouts lol. Slight exaggeration. I can think of 1-2 exceptions. But it's well over 80% of the time. Easy read to key in on over a playoff series.

@MikeyD_OandBP MM needs to work on his conditioning & skating. Tocchet needs to be told that open season on MM is over and he will be getting 18+ mins a game going forward, plus PP1 time. Briere needs to find a legit 1C and a real PP QB.

IDK why he’s a “beloved” player. He was a notch below Pat Verbeek as a player. Nothing special. Not a HoFer. Not even a consistent all star talent. Tocchet was a good role player in a high scoring era. As a coach, he’s consistently failed to unlock offensive ceilings in players. He actively harmed EP’s offense. He held Keller down. He turned Crouse into a 4th liner. He did nothing for Boeser. He’s not a guy I’d want anywhere near elite offensive talent.

@afern_alex Unfortunately, because Tocchet was a beloved player people love him, look at how much people love Briere and Jonsie because they are alumni, The Flyers Alumni are always going to be loved. I will guarantee Vladar does not put up the numbers he did this year.

10 shots man. This is so painful to watch. But the Tocchet honks will defend this man. You need to generate more offense Enough said If Vladar regresses next year they’re a 75-80 point team next year period

That’s correct. He’s the single most skilled player on the roster. He’s a kid. There needs to be a concerted effort by the team & FO to support him, not demonize him. The same goes for the team-controlled media - focus on the positives. Build the kid up. Give him prime ice time. You don’t get the most from a kid by forcing him to play uber-conservative under threat of benching & being taken out of the lineup. No one performs optimally under constant, unequally-applied scrutiny.

A Russian kid fell to us in the draft, put up 60+ pts as a rookie at 20 yrs old. Came in his sophomore year “out of shape” & extremely misused in both 5v5 & the power play, yet he still reached 20G & 50+ pts. It’s the coach’s job to fit this player in his team, period.

@charlieo_conn Tocchet is a joke of a coach. Could you imagine the backlash in Chicago if Blashill benched Bedard in the playoffs? He was a mediocre player. He’s a worse coach. It’s beginning to look like Cutter, Hayes & Co were 100% right about this organization.

Tocchet says that they squeezed as much out of the players as they could. Said they're really banged up, broken ribs and other issues. Said he can't ask for anything more from them.

@dave2009999 @dsilver88 @PhillyisFlyer Therien was - on his best day - a 4D on a fringe contender. Hartnell should send Giroux Father’s Day gifts for the rest of time for making him look like a legit top-6 W. Boucher made Ye look normal & stable. Michkov has more talent in one hand than all three of them, combined.

My Michkov opinions: -He has no interest in leaving Flyers -He wants to be huge part of this team’s success -He is learning what it means to be part of a team -He will spend summer ensuring he’s ready for next season - focus on conditioning and learning English It will be OK

A portion of their output is only possible because of the capital investments made. The guy flipping burgers is only able to produce $150 worth of burgers per hr because someone: (1) bought all the beef (2) paid for the grill (3) built the restaurant (4) hired/paid the front of house staff (5) trained everyone (6) paid for the ads/marketing And so on. To claim that the value of the labor is equivalent to what it produces is to simultaneously claim that the value of capital is 0, which is obviously wrong.

@DigitalSamIAm @moseskagan @HistoryBoomer No, wrong, total bullshit. Their labor is worth the value they produce. The value of labor is determined by its output, not some asinine market calculation based on coercive incentives.

You start a burger joint: Boomer Burgers. You hire 10 people to run it, and it makes money. Ok? You branch out and build 2 more joints. You make more money. You keep building new BBs. Dozens. Hundreds. Thousands. At what point does the money you're making become "unearned"?

You’ve got 3 choices in this market. 1. Ride the euphoria higher (and risk a 20-40% drawdown, grim and bear and keep DCA’ing for decades) 2. Sell everything move to cash/tbills, lock in gains, and try to time the bottom 3. Hybrid: keep your best companies, take profits on the speculative stuff, and move some cash into T-bills, bonds, metals etc. I’m on the hybrid path. What are you doing?
