@EllingArtist Person A uses AI to make art for their book that they then publish. Person B uses AI to learn how to fix their dishwasher. Which use of AI was more unethical?

Who convinced people that using AI for coding was magically less bad than using AI for literally anything else????

@nyawtism If two artists were making two different lamps, we'd expect them to look different, but nobody would fault them if the wiring inside was the same. We share code with each other all the time, People have copy/pasted my code before and I've done the same, it's just not a problem.

@mutant_liberal @johnthenoticer It's from 2023, I definitely wouldn't call it old. This has been an observable trend going back over a decade, so what this study really shows is that nothing has changed since the early 20-teens. Still, I'd like to see if anything has changed in the past year or two.

@johnthenoticer Isn't it an old paper, is there a new study that's adding to it?

"We also found a consistent asymmetry in this empathy bias. In each of our four studies (and in aggregate across studies) conservatives showed more empathy for liberals than liberals showed for conservatives." Same pattern across all studies. The right is much more tolerant of the left than the other way around. The right politely tolerates the left, simply thinking they’re ‘wrong’… … while the left wages an all-out battle, seeing the right as ‘evil.’

@_bazztek "Proving my point" isn't the catch-all defense you think it is, and spamming it to every reply even when it doesn't apply to the response just makes you look like you have the 12 year old mentality you're trying to critique.

The way Palworld defenders react to any criticism of Palworld reminds me of how 12 year olds on Devianart back in the day would react to any constructive criticism, with intense denial, resorting to personal attacks and pretending they're not allowed to be criticised. The main difference is nobody defending Palworld is an artist or someone with a creative background, it is almost entirely just a bunch of mentally stunted "Gamers™" getting their first taste of constructive feedback and they all collectively lash out like 12 year olds from Devianart who do not understand what the criticism even is and think anyone criticising Palworld is just a mindless "hater".

@bethbourdon @memeticsisyphus It's not that you're doing your job, it's that you're gloating that you got the most unimaginably evil people off easier. This is a heavy thing you have to do for your job, why does it make you happy that you have to make the world a worse place sometimes?

scrolling through the TL and came across your tweet. i do not pick my clients and they don't pick me. if they're indigent, they get appointed to the public defender's office. some cases get assigned to me by management and some cases get assigned to other attorneys at the office; i don't control case assignments. i represent everyone to the best of my ability. the constitution gives everyone charged with a crime the right to counsel. if you claim to love the constitution but are one of the many wishing death upon me or calling me a whore, or speculate that i'm somehow sleeping with incarcerated people (all of my clients are incarcerated), you don't love the whole constitution and you're just cherry picking the parts you do and do not support, which is anti-american behavior. i hope you never need a criminal defense attorney, but if you do, i hope that person does their very best for you. have a lovely day. :)

If you were to search her case history for a man who sexually abused his girl friends daughter for years filming it before eventually murdering her, you would still have to narrow it down further because she keeps taking on those cases.

I’ve been to church many times despite not being a Christian, here’s my take -Most Churches are 100% old people and children under 12. -Girls at Church are surrounded by family -Their family is there to keep YOU away -You, the single man, will be treated similarly to a coyote
Arthur MacWaters@ArthurMacwaters

They don't want you to know this but you can literally > go to church > sit next to a beautiful girl > say hello > ask her to dinner > tell her you love her after 3 weeks > ask her to marry you after 11 months And this beautiful creature will literally live with you in your house and sleep in your bed Absolutely insane life hack. Total glitch in the matrix, surprised they haven't patched this exploit

@DummyThiccRobot @shinygirl404 What? 1) Stealing is wrong and leads to low-trust societies 2) I agree that accidentally walking out with some goods is generally not the same thing 3) We should still commend people who correct their mistakes, because they make societies better

@DummyThiccRobot @shinygirl404 Generally I agree, but the post is insulting people for wanting to correct their mistakes, which I find abhorrent. If you realize you're accidentally stealing, go back and do the right thing. We should be lauding people who behave this way, they make society better.

@DummyThiccRobot @shinygirl404 Of course it is, don't listen to people who try to justify thievery. It's just a coping mechanism so they can justify making the world around them a worse place.

@ThoughtfulSaint Just wait dude. Your prophet will get a message from the Lord and the next few years and I guarantee it they're going to allow gay marriage. The thing about Mormonism is it needs a steady stream people tithing to survive. They will change Doctrine to attract people.

@e___uo @sh69147 @shinygirl404 Oh sorry, someone said stealing from corporations is morally good, maybe I responded to the wrong person? Anyways, what IS noble is correcting a wrong-doing, whether it was intentional or not. We should be commending this person for doing what's right

@DillonDow79259 @sh69147 @shinygirl404 Nobody even knew the person stole anything, there was no harm done. No one suggested it was a noble act either, it’s just in this specific scenario, not a big deal.

@e___uo @sh69147 @shinygirl404 Stealing doesn't just harm those you steal from, it harms the whole community. It causes low-trust societies, and people see these kinds of justifications and use them to justify their own anti-social behavior.Anything can be framed as noble if you're doing it to fight the system

@glegleKnowsBest @shinygirl404 It's actually just the reason everything is behind glass now. It lowers trust in society, and we're all worse off for it.

@StreetGenius99 @sh69147 @shinygirl404 "Don't steal" is an ethical principle, not just a practical one. But if you want to be practical about it, stealing is up there at the top with behaviors that lead to low-trust societies, even if you think you can justify it by claiming a lack of harm done

@DillonDow79259 @sh69147 @shinygirl404 Do you own an international chain of grocery stores that makes $120 billion in revenue each year? If not I don’t think you should equate stealing from Aldi to being stolen from.

@deathbian I live in Maine, where there are veggie stands and disc golf courses no one mans, there's just a box you deposit money into to take the product or use the service. These honor systems exist because I live in a high trust society with people I can depend on. Let's keep it that way

@DillonDow79259 picking up a penny from the ground, then keeping it, is not a wrongdoing. there's an amount of losses at any scale where it just doesn't matter. for billionaires, it's a pretty considerably high amount before it's even noticeable. it's whatever
