Several days ago, I received a threatening letter informing me that I am "moving up on 'the List," and that I am "fucked." The letter calls me a "kapo," indicating its authorship by a Zionist fanatic, possibly affiliated with an outfit like JDL Brotherhood 613, or from Betar dead-enders who advocate violence against perceived enemies of Israel. I opened this letter as Israel-backed Trump admin allies like Laura Loomer portrayed me as a national security threat and demanded my persecution for reporting from Iran, and as the Trump admin harassed me by illegally seizing my phones. I am not the only person to have received these letters. Howard Heath, a state representative in New Hampshire who is campaigning for Congress on a pledge to cut off military aid to Israel, also reported receiving a letter from the same "Yoor Dedmeet." The return address applied to the letter is the field office of Rep. Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian member of Congress. To me, this indicates that she and her staff could also be targets of whichever malicious individual or group sent the letter. I have filed a report with local police and informed the US Postal Service Inspector of this threatening letter.

My fellow Jews, it's time for some tough love. The early-2020s peak woke era was built on three core ideas. 1. The definition of racism kept expanding. It no longer meant racial hatred or discrimination. Every minor disagreement or objection to DEI or racial preferences was seen as a form of racism. 2. It wasn't enough to not be racist. You had to be actively anti-racist. Neutrality wasn't acceptable. If you didn't publicly support the cause, you were part of the problem. 3. Everything was framed as an existential threat. We were told that mildly offensive words put minorities in grave danger. "Silence is violence" was the defining slogan of that era. If you didn't join the team, you were putting BIPOC communities in harm's way. Since October 7, a remarkably similar framework has emerged in the online pro-Israel world. 1. The category of antisemite has expanded far beyond people who actually hate Jews. It now includes people who disagree over military strategy, Israeli government policy, or US foreign policy. People like @MattWalshBlog have been labeled antisemitic for not being 100% in lockstep with the mainstream pro-Israel position. 2. It is no longer enough to not be antisemitic. You must actively support Israel and the Jewish community, and publicly denounce everyone who has been labeled antisemitic. Neutrality is no longer acceptable. 3. The rhetoric is existential. Every deviation from the mainstream pro-Israel position is portrayed as a replay of 1930s Germany. Politicians who don't fully support Israel are Hitler, or at the minimum, endangering Jews. Stop playing this game. BLM's tactics didn't persuade millions of people. It alienated them. If your goal is to reduce antisemitism and build support for Israel, this is self-defeating. Stop demanding ideological purity. Stop expanding the definition of antisemitism until it loses its meaning. Stop treating every disagreement as an existential crisis and every critic as a threat. If you want to fight real antisemitism, start by not creating more antisemitism.
