That's because you let them dictate the argument. I've said this countless times, you can only lose to a Messi fan if you allow them defeat you psychologically with the World Cup gimmick. If they try to tell you that you should win the World Cup first, tell them they didn't accept Ronaldo in 2019 when Messi had zero international trophies and neither did they accept Maradona and Pele above Messi back then, so why should you accept Messi now? Their fans were in total depression from 2016- 2020 at least and their GOAT 🐐 was in his prime years 😂😂😂 it's not the same as Ronaldo at 38-41 years old, there's a big difference. At the time Ronaldo already had 2, yet most people still considered Messi as the greatest. When the GOAT debate between Ronaldo and Messi started they had not achieved half of what they have today. There were legends like Pele, Maradona, Johan Cruyff but people considered Ronaldo as the greatest the game has ever seen far back as 2008. Ronaldo is my idol and I consider him the greatest of all time even if he retired 5 years ago. In his prime he was the most complete player ever, and there's nobody in the history of football who has been like him. He went through a lot in life and he never gave up. So because Messi is playing his third world cup final and will probably win his second should not make anyone try to preach me to "see the light" and compromise my loyalty. Pele won 3 world cups. Mario Gotze scored the only goal that won Germany their world cup in 2014. Only 8 countries out of many have won the world cup, no matter how hard some countries try they will never win it What I'm trying to say is world cup is special but winning it has more to do with the country you come from than your footballing ability.
