Once I tried to write an essay diagnosing an entire generation of people based on the quirky aesthetics of a woman I dated. But I couldn't come up with a pithy coinage like "dinergoth." Later I discovered she was just a rockabilly, and those have been around since the 50s.

This is also where I lose people when I try and explain the industry to an outsider. Also whenever someone asks about “working in trucking” their immediate assumption is that people, especially drivers, make really good money.

This article would be 1000% better if the writer actually spoke to and quoted the people it’s about. As it stands; it’s just a sneering overwritten bit of faux anthropology. A shame - because the Discord-ification of semi-rural America is sincerely interesting. And definitely something I’ve observed since I’ve been darting around rural Texas.
