@jpatrick92 @BeefMcQueen @BamaSaltyMarine The cheese was not shelf stable but most of the rest of the things were. The cheese lasted a while but eventually molded. It was kinda like Velveeta and American cheese. Good as a kid, too processed for most adults.

Canada does the opposite and they have quotas for their dairy farmers to keep prices high. They also put steep tariffs on American dairy for the same reason.

Most people remember it as kids and it was like American and Velveeta and melted creamy. So they liked it. But if you compare an ultra processed food like that to good cheese as an adult it's not very good. I would never buy American or Velveeta Cheese Food today. I try not to buy Dairy Dessert either though filled with corn syrup and emulsifiers instead of real sugar and cream like Ice Cream.

Yeah it's like a cross between American cheese and Velveeta. Today it would have to be considered Cheese Food or something with an ingredient list a mile long. So it was good for grilled cheese, MacNCheese and most things, but it wasn't really cheese. LOL It was better than not having any though!

Yup it was in the 80's, same cheese. And lots of people seem to like it. It was ok, but I'm a food snob. It was like a drier version of Velveeta. I don't really like super processed things and would never buy Velveeta. My relatives from Wisconsin would bring blocks of good cheese so I had a comparison.

@Divided_W0rld @BamaSaltyMarine This is weird because so many adults told me that the non-branded government cheese was the best cheese they'd ever eaten. This would've been the early 80s.

We ate it too, but it was pretty crappy compared to good cheese! The milk tasted nasty though, I couldn't drink it. Tried to a few times and would make me sick. Relatives from Wisconsin would bring cheese when visiting and you could tell the gov stuff was fake super processed. I don't really like Velveeta either though. Ok if there's nothing else.
