To a man from the 90's, the ongoing trend of men's shorts ending mid thigh is disgusting, whoreish. The sort of thing worn by flamboyant West Coast homosexuals or perverts cosplaying as Britney Spears. I cannot adapt to short shorts being normal clothing for normal men.

@Robotbeat A someone who eradicated bamboo from 4 acres of our land in Hawaii, I agree with the poster. You don’t want this stuff anywhere near infrastructure.

I think part of the reason for the smartphone panic is that we have made our real world more drab and miserable. Of course screens are going to be an appealing escape

@shagbark_hick If you want to feel the most serene clarity of your life, lift heavy things 3x per week, and run miles on the days between. You will no longer desire alcohol or tobacco. It’s the best drug

I've used nicotine for 18 years straight. Used pipes, cigars, dip, chaw, snus -- and in the last few years, I started using ZYN. Enjoyed them all. But last year, I tried to switch back from ZYN to Swedish snus. Bizarrely, I suffered from immediate brain fog. Switched back immediately. My old friend snus just wasn't cutting it. It wasn't from a lack of nicotine: I was getting just as many mg of nic via the snus as I was from the ZYN, if not more. But the absorption was slower, I guess. That's when I started to get a little unnerved about these pouches, though I continued to use them heavily. Lately I've had brain fog, anxiety, shallow breath, just generally feeling off. Been going on for a few months. So I do a quick Google search looking into whether it might be the ZYN -- and I find a bunch of posts like this one. Suffice it to say I'm going to the Rez immediately and buying a log of General Snus. Will be switching back to real tobacco 100% of the time. Not gonna look back. No more pouches forever. Will slog through the brain fog or whatever. There's something bad about these things, and I say that as one who has been no less than a tin of 6mg's per day for several years. I suspect the unnaturally rapid absorption of the nicotine has some kind of negative effect, I don't know. Anyone else experienced this?

The final season of spitter was insane. The V2 curse, Isaacman becoming admin, SpaceX literally owning Twitter. Wild times. Keep an eye out for usernames you recognize from pre 6/12/2026 going forward. If all else fails we’ll somehow get people together in a group or discord.

@KenKirtland17 Yeah I wondered if they could launch massive stacks of compute modules that had their own propulsion and could migrate to AI sats in need of replacement modules, and fly their way over and plug themselves in. Like each one odd a mini satellite

I know the AI sat shown is early / represantative, but I can't help but notice how... accessible the compute racks are on the sat. The even show them sliding into place. I wonder if I am reading to deep or if they are contemplating being able to replace the compute rachs and keep the sat up?

@ZacksJerryRig @ot_giwa Dude you just have to stop rage-baiting. At least I hope that’s what you’re doing, cuz if you’re serious then you’re not as smart as I thought you were

@ot_giwa Computer chips have to stay at 140F tops. The radiator would need to be the size of a football field for just one satellite. The international space station cost 150 billion dollars - AI satelites dont have that kind of budget my friend.

Your Stanley keeps drinks cold because nobody bolted a radiator to it. Spacecraft do. Heat pipes move chip heat to panels facing 3 Kelvin space, and the ISS sheds ~75kW that way. Radiation scales with T^4. Hotter chips radiate MORE effectively. Physics says it lives.
JerryRigEverything@ZacksJerryRig

You know the reason your Stanley or Hydroflask is so good at keeping your water cold is because there's a vacuum inside the walls of the thermos. Heat can't conduct in a vaccum. And "radiated" heat is ineffective at the temperatures processors operate at. This satellite will be like plugging in your gaming PC without a CPU cooler. It'll be dead in minutes.

I'm very interested in this flat sat bus that acts as a tray to deploy starfall from Starship. It would be perfect fo an idea I had that I'm still slightly considering...

@DeanTTraining Funny when I first started working out about 15 years ago none of my guy gym buddies would do this one. They said it's for women 🤣

I'm going to a local wedding next week that will have 450+ guests. It's going to be hosted on the bride's family ranch, so there is room, but still quite a thing to organize. I've really never heard of a wedding at that scale before.

Cryo tanking operations are progressing smoothly to fill the Atlas V with the liquid rocket fuel needed to accomplish today's launch of 29 satellites for Amazon Leo. We have a green board with no issues being addressed today by the ULA launch team and continue to target 7:33:30 p.m. EDT (2333:30 UTC) for liftoff. Current weather is GO. bit.ly/av_leo7

@tyromper Love this advice. You can still be *almost completely* shredded and still eat some normal stuff and have fun in life. I do think that my motivation for working out really tanks if I drink alcohol, so for that reason I avoid it almost completely, but every couple months it's fun

It's so funny I see a lot of these HEALTH GURUS & INFLUENCERS saying, "Omg I drank 1 glass of wine & it wrecked me for 3 days!!" Or one longevity expert said he "slipped & ate 1 cookie & had stomach issues all week." Last night was the first night I had a drop of alcohol in 5 months. (Not much interest as I age, but no kids so wifey & I decided to let it rip!) I had 8-9 shots of Jameson & ate pizza & a cinnamon roll at midnight. Woke up early today & walked 7 miles with my wife then took a tough Pilates class with her & still feel like a million bucks. People are OVER OPTIMIZING things in 2026. Tracking everything always. Stressing about all these metrics. -Lift weights 3-4x a week. -Walk & move as much as you can. -Don't drink your calories very often. -Eat whole, real foods 80% of the time. And then LIVE LIFE!!! I do notice most of these GURUS & INFLUENCERS don't have kids. We had three one year olds at one point so a few drinks & a workout seems really easy compared to that.
