@mkeccp Independent of the the question of efficacy... how many patient take their own nitro each year at home for chest pain without IV access or a screening 12-lead to Rule out inferior MI first.

I finally found it. The original dog study that suggested epinephrine be used in cardiac arrest. Redding JS, JW P. Resuscitation from Asphyxia. JAMA. Oct 20, 1962; 182: 163-166.

@DrJeffJarvis Great find! The title says so much. Unless there was a follow-up.....”resuscitation from fibrillation”

#SMACC2019 EM Updates The triple combo of the AIRWAYS-2, PART, and CAAM studies published in JAMA late last year show that there is no benefit to routine endotracheal intubation as a primary airway for OHCA and adjuncts such as LMAs or LT’s should probably be used initially

Dr. Levy bringing some stats real talk to the mix. Resuscitation time bias (opposite of survival time bias) is not often taken into consideration in prehospital observational studies. @EaglesGather @mklevy10 #GatheringEagles19

Every person in EMS should mark their calendar today. Thanks to work from individuals across the country, we are moving to payment for treatment rather than payment for transport #emsismorethanataxi @NAEMSP #ET3

I would suspect that those same patients that earn cardiac, renal, etc work ups also have abnormal vitals and fail the rule. #sgemhop

@First10EM @socmobem @TheSGEM @EMSwami @srrezaie @nicholasenacca @PharmERToxGuy @Rick_Pescatore @DocClemency @CHeitzMD @ProfBEEM Main concerns are ischemic EKG changes, elevated trop and creatinine. Had a ton of ODs in Philly & I've seen irreversible cardiac and renal damage with some. d/c If its a standard OD: got narcan right away, work up, medics brought in, vitals fine, pt exam fine.

@kavitababu Ideally, when the rule misclassified a pt. they were DC'd with a responsible adult & have been given take-home naloxone kit In EM "what if your wrong" can be applied to just about every patient. PERC, HEART, NEXUS etc are good but not perfect, why is this different? #SGEMHOP
