Civilian perspective. I’d like to think I’d try to see the command position and reasoning. But I know that’s hard enough when no one’s life was lost or even in jeopardy. I truly believe the best case would be a deep and abiding distrust of the specific command structure and people, possibly extending to the service itself. But I also find myself thinking that a distrust of authority in general is a very distinct possibility.

I’ve received a lot of feedback on the last two hypotheticals that have potential to lead to moral injury. What do you think of this one about betrayal? A platoon leader is ordered to hold a checkpoint in a high-risk area with inadequate support and outdated equipment, despite repeated requests for reinforcements. Several members of the platoon are killed in an ambush that command "knew was likely" but downplayed. The leader feels betrayed by the chain of command: "They sent us out there like expendable pawns, knowing the risks but lying about the support we'd have." This betrayal erodes loyalty to the military institution and can extend to distrust of government or authority figures in civilian life.

so @J0hnADouglas is absolutely right about sumo wrestlers being human beings too but this is also an important point, the usual strategy of "hit them really hard as they close" is more difficult when you're trying to stop an Indiana Jones rolling boulder trap with a punch
How2Fix@how2fixtv

@J0hnADouglas @planefag Sumo wrestlers tank a full speed headbutt in like half of their matches, and they get 15 matches every 2 months. This is not counting training and the constant palm strikes they take to the head. They can fake being conscious really well.

@Templarpilled Well...yeah. These are Rhodesian nationals, one of the two old "white tribes of Africa." They lost in the end, but I'm not sure how this supports your point. Many still live there - Miss Zimbabwe and IIRC Miss Africa was white, a few years back.

@CuriousBunnie12 SIDS dominantly happens only with the mother…. Never in public…. And never with a father. It’s just moms having mental breaks and killing their kids.

no one who shouts this “fact” can explain why the back to sleep campaign reduced SIDS rates
Truth Reigns Supreme@awkeNotWoke

@CuriousBunnie12 SIDS is a lie - healthy babies do not die for unknown reasons. Babies only die in their sleep after their vaccines.

@illusive_duck @Soyloquesoy_17 @11975MHz He did advocate for peace after he said that? Did he tell his superiors to avoid war? No, he advocated for the pearl harbor attack, threatening to resign if it wasn't carried out. quite possibly one of the dumbest plans of ww2

In all fairness, the Battle of Midway occurred on the very day that Yamamoto informed his superiors it would. Admiral Yamamoto told them he could give them six months of unchecked expansion and conquest in the Pacific from the advent of December 7th, 1941. Six months to the very day on June 6 1942, in the space of five minutes, that prediction of his was fulfilled.

When Britain took over India and Indian justice, they ran into problems of "combinated mendacity". Their colonial administrators had to learn not to assume petitioners were truthful even with hundreds of witnesses – whole villages would happily defraud the next village over.

So his entire family turned up to defend him after he stabbed an English kid? - His mother stashed the murder weapon. - His father and brother backed up the nonsense allegations of racism while Henry lay in a pool of his own blood. What a horrific community.

Perfect example as to why I will never understand men who store their handguns in a backpack or those little chest man-bag things. Ignore whatever the hell this shooting is.. focus on the amount of time that it takes the shooter to deploy.

@CanyonCohle @SlumRNA_Dog Dude same, I don't understand how mma coaching is so bad. the key to beating Ronda was always going to be footwork. And what did everyone except Holly do, including gina the other night? charge right at her. I rarely gamble, but I paid my rent for 2 months of the Holly fight

@SlumRNA_Dog that's not true about striking at all. Ronda had terrible coaching and misplaced confidence. The only thing she knew how to do was bullrush into a clinch, which to be fair, had worked incredibly well up until then because women's mma and coaching is generally terrible

@DontTweetMe15 @Michael_Druggan He did. The single leg failed then he switched the double leg which was successful. And to correct what I previously said, he competed at 175 at the time, but I have no idea what he actually weighed at time of filming

This comment is both factually mistaken and completely misguided. It would take an elite level of skill for someone to be favored in a fight over someone literally double their strength and 70-80lb heavier. Merely being a high school wrestler isn't going to cut it. But that's honestly besides the point. The reason I'm proud of my bench press numbers isn't because of what it says about my fighting ability. I'm proud because I'm a strength athlete and I've achieved an elite level of performance in my chosen discipline. No one would say that Steph Curry's basketball shooting ability is any less impressive just because he can't figure skate. That's ridiculous. They're different athletic disciplines.
Cernovich@Cernovich

Yeah. Gym bros talking about strength is tedious. A high school welterweight could body slam pretty much anyone reading this, no matter the how much can you bench bro. Talking about "strength standards" if you can't actually fight is peak vanity and delusion.
