The CEO of BAIC in Nelson Mandela Bay telling workers to leave if they think R48 an hour in the motor industry is cheap labour. These are the same workers who were earning R114 an hour while they were still temporary. As soon as they became permanent last december, their wages were reduced. These chinese are here to exploit our people 😒

@Martin_ASFL Most important issues to overcome would be union and political interference, we need a retrenchment policy in the public sector & a rigorous performance management system and target to work out non performance

Even if a DA-led coalition wins the LGE, Joburg can't be fixed without RISKY (read this word again, again, and again) and radical reforms. Huge swathes of staff need to be immediately fired. Deep decentralisation to neighbourhoods has to occur. Joburg cannot be fixed with an (1) ANC-remnant civil service and (2) a centralised model.

In case it wasn't already painfully clear: Johannesburg is in serious, almost terminal trouble. The 2026 local government elections are pretty much make or break.

Dear World, Please stop providing loans and investments to South Africa. It is like an unlimited liquor supply to an alcoholic, the alcoholic will frantically drink every last drop and can never get enough. The same applies to the ANC cadres. They will never stop the corruption and looting because they will never have enough as long as the financial contirbutions (loans, investments etc.) fills the begging bowl. We, the people of South Africa, are the ones who ultimately pay their salaries and repay these loans. We have had enough of the corruption, looting, and incompetence of our government. For a long time, President Cyril Ramaphosa blamed apartheid for our problems. That excuse worked until the world woke up to the scale of the corruption and looting. The begging bowl was emptied (looted) remarkably quickly. He then delivered a dramatic speech about inequality. That narrative also collapsed when the Global Fund conducted research and discovered that South Africa is wealthier than more than a hundred countries it supports financially, resulting in funding cuts over a four-year period. The latest item in the South African president’s begging arsenal is a call for “redress.” In any South African language, this is clearly understood to mean that more corruption and looting is on the way. South Africa as a country should be placed under administration!!!

Minister of Small Business Development, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, has been forced to withdraw the proposed Business Licensing Bill following widespread public opposition. The Bill would have expanded red tape, increased state control over entrepreneurs, and made it harder to start and grow a business in South Africa. Free SA formally submitted its opposition on 21 November 2025, calling for the immediate withdrawal of the legislation. We were proud to speak out strongly against this anti-entrepreneurship proposal from the beginning. Sometimes public pressure works. We must continue making our voices heard when policies threaten freedom, opportunity, and economic growth. South Africa needs less bureaucracy, more economic freedom, and a government that removes barriers for people to build, trade, and create jobs, not create them.

@PMashatile The elephant in the room is where is the public sector retrenchment policy, first mechanism to deal with overstaffing and secondly where are the prosecutions for non compliance to your own PFMA and corruption and if you brave enough more Madlanga comm into all SOEs/municipalities

Now is the time to have qualified officials, clear authority, and firm accountability. We want councillors, management, and staff to be united in supporting the intervention. Officials must be empowered to deliver and held accountable when they do not. #ServiceDelivery

City of Joburg is bankrupt. It happens because the mayor never mastered the basic skill of balancing a checkbook. How else can he explain that "creditors are owed R25.2-billion, while the City has R3.9-billion in cash and equivalents." dailymaverick.co.za/article/2026-0…

Motorists across Johannesburg could face major frustration after the City of Johannesburg’s licensing department has reportedly run out of the special face value paper used to print licence discs and other official vehicle licensing documents-marking the second such incident this year. The shortage is reportedly affecting licensing centres across the entire city, meaning residents attempting to renew vehicle licences may not be assisted. Sources allege the crisis stems from one City department allegedly owing another millions of rand, resulting in delays in the procurement of the secure paper required for printing official documents. The situation has raised fresh concerns around financial management, internal administration and the ongoing collapse of basic service delivery within the metro. Motorists now fear possible fines and penalties due to delays beyond their control, while questions continue to mount over why contingency plans were not put in place after a similar disruption earlier this year. Frustration is also growing after senior officials allegedly failed to provide clear answers regarding what caused the latest shortage, why it was allowed to happen again, and when normal services will resume. Residents are demanding urgent intervention and accountability as the backlog threatens to impact thousands of motorists across Johannesburg. @CoJTransport @Jaca_Patrick @JoburgMPD @DadaMorero @CityofJoburgZA @Dotransport @TrafficRTMC

LONG OVERDUE! At last, a rebuke and threats of intervention by one level of government (National Treasury), over another (City of Jhb), who are rightly accused by Treasury, of failing to take credible corrective action despite repeated warnings. moneyweb.co.za/news/south-afr…
