NASA confirmed that the boom heard this morning across Northern Ohio was a meteor. It was apparently 6 feet across, 7 tons, and unleashed an energy of 250 tons of TNT when it fragmented. @signalcleveland The best part, on their map, they've named it: "Chicken Little."

The Geostationary Lightning Mapper (#GLM) on @NOAA's #GOESEast (#GOES19) 🛰️ can occasionally capture the bright flashes of exploding meteors (#bolides) as they appear similar to #lightning flashes!
